Prospect Info: Mikko Lehtonen

Does anyone know why he hasn't been playing for Jokerit of late? Is he injured? Or being saved from potential injury?

Was on a great roll w/ 16 points in 14 games, still leading KHL Defencemen in points despite 6-8 fewer games played.

Coronavirus.

So excited about seeing him in the big leagues, he will properly solidify our Top 4.

Kerfoot going out means he’ll need to be replaced by a 3C. None in the system so either another veteran torontonian for 800K or he needs to be replaced by a pretty equal contract. If not it’ll be a huge downgrade.
Brooksie could do what Kerfoot does and you wouldn’t notice a difference. The extent of talent Kerfoot has had to play with has been really good. Brooks can play center better defensively than Kerfoot now

You've determined this, from the SEVEN NHL games he's played, for a total of 49 minutes? This seems to be a dubious claim... poor Brooksie just being held back, when he's a legit top 9 NHL talent.

He will be around and play unless he gets traded but he will play in the Nhl. He’s has a very high hockey IQ. He can score a bit too. Yes i like his game and he is a very good prospect. I would gladly see him taking 4th line job and Kerfoot gone. We don’t need Kerfoot on this team.
Brooks played every game in the Marlies Calder cup championship run and is a winner everywhere he goes. Keefe trusts this guy for a reason and I’m sure would like to have room for him.

I like Brooks, and have watched him since we drafted him... but to say we don't need Kerfoot is erroneous, and to suggest Brooks could replace him is premature.

Please go pee in the cup sir, and don't handle heavy machinery or power tools until the results are known.

I mean I’d say Engvall is the closest to replacing Kerfoot if we go down this path. Brooks could MAYBE replace engvall on the fourth line.

Engvall played center a bit last year. Not a natural center however by any means. Also Engvall was widely inconsistent. Flashes of a good player and flashes of not really a top 9 player.

the point is, the cap being flat the next few year Dubas will continue to have to shove triangular objects in a circular hole. Not to mention Rielly needs a new contract in 2 years. Assuming it’s 7-8.5, getting rid of Kerfoot will not be enough as well that’ll cover Riellys well deserved raise. To sign Lehtonen well need more. Also Hyman coming up next year.

I like the way he just glides all over the ice playing with these other guys like coffee or bobby Orr and leetch and ...... and ......... ah nevermind :)

Makes Morgan Rielly expendable likely and ..... ah nothing ha

Now imagine Dubas didn't trade Kadri

Kadri traded Kadri out of the organization... He had discipline issues, and run ins with management since he started here. Was internally suspended, reprimanded and warned... and then the playoff suspensions... I loved Kadri the player, but you only get so many second chances.

I mean we probably can't give him the Zaitsev contract, but we can probably find a way to sign him if he does well. Depending on how Kerfoot does, trading him is an option. Holl could also be an option, with one of Sandin or Liljegren coming up full time. All that is obviously conditional but I wouldn't put your farewell card in the mail yet.

By trading Holl, the Leafs can offer him like 2.7M, which might be enough for 2 more years. It basically comes down to offering Lehtonen or Dermott a contract like that, because Rielly, Muzzin, Brodie are locks and Sandin and Liljegren should also be locks after next season (otherwise they might not be as good as we hope/need them to be).

Looks like a pretty skater, sort of a wasted effort on the PP though.

How? He flawlessly gets the puck down the ice into the o-zone within a blink of an eye, sends the puck around the boards to the point to set up the PP formation beautifully.

The video cut out for me once he shot the puck.
I missed the beautiful PP set up.

i don’t think a zone entry with speed with 2 players following is ever a waste. there was likely a pass available but those players were stationary and would result in a board battle which comes with risk of turn over.

Looked like he just dumped it on net which seemed a waste. Video stopped so not really sure. Wasted was probably the wrong word but it really didn’t seem to me like all that special a play for a good skater.

i missed him spinning it around the boards at the very end, looks like he got squeezed out and couldn’t get the puck to a teammate in open ice. Nylander would have been able to spin back and hold possession and find open ice 4/5 times after an entry like that.

The PK was leaning to his side as a result of his entry and the PP usually has a man on the boards waiting for that puck.
