Prospect Info: Mikhail Yegorov Pick 49 2024 NHL DRAFT

Next game for BU is on Saturday at 4:30 and will be on ESPN+.

They're the #3 seed in the Hockey East Tournament. Opponent will be determined after tonight's quarterfinal matchups.

If they advance, the semifinals are Thursday, March 20th and the Championship game is the following night.

Frozen Four teams will be announced on Sunday, March 23th. BU should certainly be in good shape to make the tournament.

This is our future stud. It is written in the stars (and sports Almenac).
Are we talking about the Marty McFly sports almanac? That only covered 1950-2000 if the internets is feeding me correct info.

But yes, I’m as pumped by this kid as any goalie prospect we’ve had in a loooong time.

Are you telling me you missed the reboot? It covers 2000-2050!

P.S….. it’s ridiculous that we are over half way through that!

Unless it’s on Nickelodeon or Disney+, I must have missed it. I had a mancave once, for about a week, and then it was filled with Barbies and Gu-Jitsus…all I got for $25,000 was 4 sports posters on the wall and an 80” tv. I swear I love those little money grabbers!🤣

Should be a good matchup on Thursday at 4:00 as BU (3rd seed Big East, ranked 6th nationally) takes on UConn (4th seed Big East, ranked 7th nationally).

BU beat UConn 4-2 early in the season and more recently won in the shootout after being tied 2-2.

Yegorov will enter the game 4th in SV% in D1.

Gundarah is 5’10”, he’s been a fun story for SHU but they don’t play a lot of top competition.

He's also a soon-to-be 22 year old freshman and you're right, not a very tough schedule.

Alex Tracy is already 24 years old, while Stoever will be 25 in a month and has an easy schedule.

Fowler is certainly legit though, drafted in the 3rd round by Montreal and putting up a .926 SV% as a freshman in his D+1 year.

Fowler is listed as a sophomore on that chart?

Could we have FINALLY drafted our stud goalie? When he’s ready, Shesterkin and Sorokin will be considerably longer in the tooth and we may have the best Russian netminder in the tri-state area. Man, that would be awesome!!
Yegorov has looked incredible. Assuming no major injuries, I think he can actually be a top netminder down the road. He checks all the boxes for me regardless of the limited sample size. Thought he was severely underrated prior to moving to BU; folks just didn't watch many or any of his games.

Goalie dev curve is obviously long and disproportionately unpredictable, but he has legit superstar potential.

Fowler is a sophomore. He's won Hockey East Goaltender of the Year two years in a row.

missed the first couple minutes of the 1st
  • square to first attempts, particularly early on and when play broke down. solid puck tracking including against redirects. good extensions as well, didnt think he was overshooting/undershooting save attempts
  • great reflexes on saves, got down in the butterfly quickly. didnt really bite on much. rebound control was better than last viewing, more pucks directed away from the net/into the corners
  • faced some adversity early in the 2nd, two quick goals against. first one BU got outworked by UCONN forecheck. puck sent from the point to the low slot where opp F ripped it in tight. yegorov made the first save but BU D couldnt clear the follow up and he scored on the next attempt. second one was off a clear breakaway where yegorov opened up juuuust a bit too much and got caught 5 hole
  • luck didnt get much better as the period went on. BU miscue gave UCONN numbers near the net. pretty heroic goal line pad save on the first attempt but, like the first one, the puck popped back out, a D wasnt there to clear it, and he couldnt hold the post for the rebound chance
  • felt like he started to get a little jittery/scrambly as the goals mounted. wasnt burned over it but lacked the same crispness/swagger to his save attempts that i saw more of in the first. had a close call on a short side attempt he almost came too far off the post for
  • things wouldnt change in the 3rd either. two on none cross crease (literally through the crease) beat him early in the period. minimal support from the skaters in this one
wouldnt call this his best work, but its hard to pin any of the goals on yegorov, they were all off various degrees of breakdowns. maybe he couldve come up big on the breakaway or stole the 2 on 0 attempt but...in any case, thought he was essentially just good enough tonight. made the saves he had to, gave BU a chance. story of the game is gonna be UCONN forecheck completely overwhelming BU
