tried to catch both his game and casey's return so i dont believe i watched closely enough to give a full rundown, but i thought it was another solid performance. tracked shot attempts well, stayed with pucks as play collapsed in on his net, made plenty of desperation saves as play broke down, etc. merrimack had a lot of speed off the rush and kept getting behind BU defense and yegorov had them all (well, most of) the way

unfortunately, BU D fell asleep on the ot winner. pass in front off the rush for a freebie shot from just outside the crease that yegorov still got a piece of. team should be thanking him for even getting to extra time

the one big negative from this viewing was he got exposed on the glove issues:

also want to shout out that this account (Kinch) looks to be posting recaps of every game he plays (wasnt sure if it was originally just for his debut), so if anyone wants a sparknotes version of what hes up to, might wanna bookmark the channel

Realistically, when is the earliest he could make it to the big club? I’m wondering if the timeframe will align with when we inevitably move on from Markstrom. Thanks, guys!!

Markstrom is only signed one more year. No way that timeline lines up. Yegorov is still 3-4 years away at least.

Not a leading question here, I don’t know the answer, but when was the last 21-22 year old goalie to come in have a solid season as a #1?

I was thinking if Markstrom was brought back on another 1 or 2 year deal. I agree there’s zero chance Big Mike would be here for the 2026-2027 season.

Well if he starts driving in the next hour, he could probably be in Newark after lunch. Since Markstrom is still rehabbing his injury I expect he'd be able to greet Yegorov at the facility when he arrives.

Very few goalies end up in the league permanently before their age 22-23 seasons. That IS when a lot of the elite non-Russian guys make the jump, though.

My realistic hope for him if he’s the real deal would be this year and next in college hockey, then 2 years in the AHL, then splitting time in the NHL for a year.

Steve Mason was 20 when he won the Calder. But it's been a long time and I suspect it won't happen here either.
