Grigorenko also only played a grand total of 63 games over 3 seasons with the Sabres. As a comparison, Tyson Barrie also looked pretty bad in his first 60 NHL games. He had a few games where he looked OK, but mostly looked out of his depth and ended up back in the AHL as a result.

In 74 games with the Avs, there was no evidence that Grigorenko wasn't putting in effort or was lost. In fact, he worked his way up to a top 6 position by the end of the year. If he continues his play from the end of the season, he'll probably start the year in the top 6, and we'll see what he can do.

Could be a classic example of a change of scenery doing him good. We'll see this season what he does.

He got rushed in Buffalo and that killed his confidence. At the end of last year, he showed glimpses of why he was drafted so high. If he can keep his head on straight, there's no reason he can't be a very solid top 6 winger.

On topic, I don't think Grigorenko's ask is really that far off from what he's worth. If Yakupov is worth $2.5m, Grigorenko is easily worth $1.65m.

The case Yakupov might be the same thing as the case Grigorenko, both talented beyond their confidence levels.

I think Zadorov still will be, because that is your missing top pairing, or top four at least LHD. That is an easy choice versus two other C/Ws

Kulikov was a good pickup though, but he is going to have to face much more difficult competition next season, and does not remotely have the upside/physical tools that Z has.

On Greg, it's absolutely criminal how underrated he is, and it even applies to our own fan base a little bit.

It just shows how little people use their memories, and watching games instead of the stat sheet, or media hype train, yet are absolutely willing to make statements about a player like they know something.

The kid earned a top six spot, and the team in now way attempted to replace him either. He even stayed on the power play after we brought in two more forwards at the trade deadline. He spent a lot of time staying late working with the coaching staff and one of the big depth defenders on puck protection and board battles most of the season.
