I was told about MR when he was in Kranger by one of his Bantam coaches something that has always stuck with me. He said "Mike is one of the rarest kind of hockey players, his character is equal to his talent and his talent is among the best".
There really aren't many players when you think about it that excel at every aspect of the game and then also an elite level of character along with such a high level of compete. If you take a minute and think about it you will see what I mean.
Think of the elite talents in the NHL and then think about where there drive, determination and character stack up next to MR. They are very very few and equally far between.
The Kings have had some of the greatest character, drive guys to play in the NHL on the team but I can only think of one of them who brought everything to the table at such a high level.
