Mike Richards forgot how to hit?

Seriously, Carter has always been a goal scorer but his defense has really improved. Even his shootout attempts have gotten better. He used to be an abismal 3/20 before he came to LA. Now, he scores like its nothing. I know people may think Carter was always this good with all his goals, but this version is so much better. The hard work he's put into everything has paid off big time. That brief trip to Columbus showed him that nothing is guaranteed among the businessmen of the NHL. With the Kings, he's making sure there is no way they can trade him.

He's improved a few things over the years, face offs, defence etc. The biggest thing is he's healthy. When his legs are moving is when he's at his best. The Flyers did such a huge favour - unknowingly - when they signed he and Richie to long term, low cap hit contracts. They thought they were so smart to trade them before their NTCs kicked in but for them and the Kings, it was the best thing.

I know that this isn't related to the topic at hand, but if you were going to put 2 Kings on the ice with scoring a goal as your first priority, I would go Carter+Richards 10/10 times

Also do we have any highlight reels for Richard as a King?

I made one. Well actually it's a tribute video, it has flyers parts in the beginning, but also the playoffs last year. It's my first "real" video, Im not the best editor. Here's the link:

Richards has been turning it on the last few games - what's his point streak now, 5/6 games? We need him scoring and setting up Cartsy and the LW of the day on that line rather than looking to lay out people.

It coinsides with him being on the PP point. Earlier in the year when he was at the point he had 9 points in 7 games. When he was on Philly in his goal scoring days he'd get half his points at the point on the PP. Why he wasn't being used there is beyond me.

Wow...terrific. I hadn't see that video before. It's always bittersweet for me to see some of his Flyers highlights, seeing all the potential they gave up on. But the flip side of that what a bright future he'll have with his best years as a King and the wonderful moments already achieved and those yet to be .
Nice use of finding a muriad of images, hits, goals, pretty setups, and esp. including the fights to defend his teammates which is a HUGE part of his leadership. And the goal he scored as a Flyer vs the Bruins with 3 seconds leftin OT is a favorite, I remember watching that how calm and cool he was coasting over the blueline well aware of the 11 seconds left and patiently waiting for Seidenberg to go down before he shot.
Thanks for this, it was a nice insight into what makes him tick, and using Bob Clarkes own words which he's now choking on, along with the rest of the Flyers braintrust...well done.

Yeah, I enjoyed both videos. As far as Bobby Clarke goes I still remember him saying the Flyers were way better after trading Richards and Carter. It's amazing how fast that organization will turn on you. But nothing makes me happier than seeing JVR, Bob, Richards, and Carter not only being a part of possible playoff teams but being big reasons for that stretch run. Meanwhile, the Flyers will be sitting on the sidelines.

I feel sorry for a lot of those goes, especially Giroux how now has to face the full brunt of what Richards did for years. Hey Holmgren, when you start to believe that Giroux doesn't have the heart of a winner, give the Kings a call, please.

Having watched this 4 or 5 times now, I forgot to mention before that the song with the 'boom boom' was perfectly done, those 'booms' coinciding with hits and punches.

Hoping that Carter and Richards continue to dominate going forward into the playoffs as they have been lately and you can do another one after the Kings win the Cup.

You know what? I don't think Ed Snider understands yet what a mistake he made trading Richards and the others, going back to Seidenberg and Sharpe. They just don't have the intelligence to allow for patience. JVR is already proving to them how wrong they were; that a young power forward takes longer to develop than a goal scorer and to do that, you give him stability. He never got that , bounced from line to line and benched. He's been given that in Toronto and a coach who had faith in the potential he saw and put him in position to grow, PP, PK and reg. 5 on 5 with regular linemates. He's going to be a stud, he's already showing that promise. Bob- there's not enough words to convey the stupidity of that deal.
With Big Ed, it just never ends...and just waiting for this years blunder which I have a gut feeling will involve Cooter and that will be a HUGE mistake, he's gonna be a great 2 way player.

Great video. When I was watching that game live on TV (because my second favorite team is the Habs :P), my jaw literally dropped. I hated when my Habs played against the Flyers because I loved Richards so much. Richards is an amazing player on the ice. One of my favorite players on the Kings, aside from JMFJ (lol :()

Honestly, people pay more attention to Carter because when was the last time we had a pure goal scorer? (Ziggy and Luke)

Richards brings the leadership on the ice. He's a great alternate because Brown isn't as vocal as Richards. Does that mean that Brown should lose the C? Absolutely not. We have a good balance of leadership at the very moment. Additionally, Richards is also playing extremely smart. Based on his history of injuries, he's not using his body as much, which is a good because what would we do without our #2C :)?

People overlook our team mainly because we are not on the east coast, but imagine if we were. Imagine if we swapped uniforms with the Flyers. :amazed::amazed::amazed:

Overall, Richards has been a great addition for our team. When he was traded to us, I was so ecstatic and when he was reunited with Carter, I knew for a moment that we had a shot at the cup. In the long run, I hope Richards will stay as a King, until he retires because his leadership and his passion for winning cannot be taught. He will be a great role model for our rookies and future leaders of the team.

Go Canon Go!

Has anyone paid attention to how Richards is 2nd on the Kings with 29 points (tied with Jeff Carter) and is also tied for 21st in the NHL in scoring among centers. He doesn't have to be throwing hits every shift when him or Carter are spending most of their time inside the offensive zone.

As Jim Fox loves to say....if you're leading in the hitting stats, it's 'cause the other guys are getting the puck possession.

What's funny is Dean learned so much from the Flyers and he ended up with the cup. As much as I love the Kings it still makes me sick to see what the Flyers have become. I feel worse for Giroux than anyone, he is the captain now and he's going to take the brunt of the crap once they buy out Bryz, which seems inevitable.

Well with any hope he'll take the remainder of his contract and get out. Or the Kings could steal him away. Don't worry, Giroux.

Would be so much better if there was an image of Lombardi standing behind Snider

I have the same instinct about Couts as well. If we're going to lose Bernier anyway, I'd love to swing a Bernier for Couturier deal...
