Please elaborate... I bet Luongo hasn't been professional nor has Iginla if this is the precedent which you hold them to

If Iginla was a healthy scratch for a year - and simply goofed around liek Komi has been doing - while rookies took his roster spot - on a bottom 5 team ... I would question his professionalism and desire to play/win hockey games.

let me guess, you are one of the guys who *****ed about Sundin not allowing himself to be traded, right?

What if he gets injured to end the year, still a Comp buyout? I see why they're doing it, but it would be better for the franchise to have him sit pretty in the box

not if he's injured. and only people on here are worried about that. DN is not going to sit him just in case he gets injured

stupid notion some people have

LOLok, Dave. Yeah, it wouldn't be stupid to pay him a cap hit of 3.6m next year to play in the A. You're right, it's dumb to worry about that :shakehead

komi, if he goes down might take one of our young guys spots, rielly.
if he gets injured ,no buyout in the summer, no extra cap space.
so it must be cause there is a trade ready to happen and we need a roster spot.

This whole situation is a tough one for me.

I can never blame a player for taking an organization to the bank and getting paid. If you are a mediocre talent and a foolish general manager is willing to spend lavishly on you, then why not act towards your rational self-interest and take the money? Well, Komisarek did just that.

However, whether he is sitting in the pressbox or playing on the Marlies, he is still costing this team via cap space. And in the end, this is all that matters.

Komisarek acting in his own rational self-interest? Can't blame him. Screwing the Leafs over via cap space? It sucks. A lot. I wish no player did this. But, I don't know if I can blame him because he did what every mediocre hockey player wishes: to cash in.

I hope the Leafs learn their lesson.

I dont agree with people who use Lombardi as a negative of Burke. Burke probably never thought Lombardi would ever play a game for the Leafs given his injury. He was acquired for the sole reason of that was the asking price of also getting Franson. Its a move which is starting to pay dividends.

Its possible.

could also be someone wants to put him on their AHL team and use the cap hit. But they want Toronto to take the risk of putting him down to the AHL.

So Toronto either gets rid of him through trade OR gets a very very minimal or conditional return.

- wrong. why does it have to be him?
if he gets injured ,no buyout in the summer, no extra cap space.

-didn't realize cap space was a concern? how much do they have?? Leaf brass are not going to keep a guy from playing because they are worried about him getting injured. he probably would have been down there before now had he dropped his NMC

so it must be cause there is a trade ready to happen and we need a roster spot.

- maybe. or maybe they are giving him a chance the only way they can

Separate the man from the hockey player, and you have a class act. Someone who has been a model professional, and has done nothing but portray a terrific teammate during his entire ordeal here.

While he absolutely ***** the bed while he was here and won't be missed, and didn't come anywhere close to living up to that ridiculous contract, the fact is I still feel sorry for him and hope he moves on and is able to find another team in less of a fish-bowl market that he can do well on.

I wish him well - hope he can bounce back in the NHL somewhere.

I'm not convinced he's even worth buying out if he's playing with the Marlies. There's no one left to spend huge this off season.
