I read the title as "Mike 'Doc' Emrick on Jim Hughson" as if Emrick had made comments about Hughson. And if there was a thread made it about, the words would have to be either extremely complimentary or quite disparaging. Honestly, I was kind of hoping for the latter, just for the sake of controversy.

As for the actual poll, I say Hughson all the way. As a 30 year old Canucks fan, I grew up on Hughson as the voice of the Canucks on TV. Still one of the best at what he does.

A poster insinuates he thinks Thorne is better than both guys in question. I reference Thorne’s history of butchering some calls. It’s clearly on topic. The poster I responded to even came back with a comment of his own. He’s clearly okay and we’re allowed to go back and forth, right Mr. Bouncer?

Besides, why aren’t you attacking other posters for saying “Doc is terrible?” Doc is my favorite and those comments add no substance to the conversation. Can’t you come out defending me and my opinion against these other mean posters!?!

We were spoiled when i was a little kid on CBC...Cole, Whitman, and Cuthbert...That was awesome...CBC announcers are boring now.....Mark Lee was decent but they don't use him for the playoffs....

The guy doing the Sharks Knights series with Mike Johnson was a decent play by play guy.

I'm getting kinda tired of Doc now I feel like I've heard too much of him now especially playing EA NHL. I wish Chris Cuthbert would get more love and be able to call a SCF.

They're both incredible in their own right.

I like both of them a lot. Both seem to get a lot of unjustified flack I feel.

Emrick I like more for his enthusiasm, but I generally can't stand NBC broadcasts (lack of shot clock/obvious bias towards the winning team) and the rest of the crew (Pierre/Olcysk), so it's harder for me to tolerate their coverage.

Hughson generally calls games pretty unbiased (when he does make a remark it's usually not in a condescending/arrogant tone), and calls a great game, but he is a lot more mellow in comparison to Doc.

I ultimately prefer Sportsnet broadcasts by a lot, but as a play-by-play commentator, give me Doc's enthusiasm and quips like "AANDD IT WOULDN'T GO!!!" I love it.

I mostly watch in french, but I like Hughson because he reminds me of playing NHL on my old playstation 2.
