You've got to have more evidence than, "He said his kids cost a lot of money that one time in that meeting."

Sometimes you just can't make stuff like this up. I agree someone said earlier in the thread the truth most likely lies in the middle. What makes me lean towards believing Commordore is that Bassard/Arniel situation.

I believe Commodore to the extent that he had issues with some coaches and the coaches probably weren't all in the right or something, but ridiculous statements like "Arniel was jealous because I was single and rich" make him sound like an idiot.

How's this for a spin on that statement...Commodore was partying a lot and playing poorly and Arniel was pissed that the extracurricular activities were affecting Commodore's games. Furthermore, he's pissed that Commodore is enabling this same behavior in young players like Brassard and Voracek, and the culture around the team is poor.

Commodore gets upset about this and in his mind it becomes that Arniel is jealous that Commodore can go party all he wants because he's single, etc etc.

And yes, there were rumors that was the situation...

We know Arniel was a crappy head coach and it didn't work out there. I have no trouble believing he clashed with his players and he didn't handle it well, but I do have trouble believing it was for the reasons that Commodore gives.

To be fair, who wouldn't be jealous of a young single professional athlete? I mean, it's PURE, BASELESS speculation, but if Arniel had gripes about his playing career being over, or if he's really talking that way about marriage and kids maybe there are things going on at home, it could be anything.

Like I said, pure speculation, but it's not impossible.

Interview was awesome and the jury is still out on Arniel but Commodore's "dont hate the playa, hate the game" attitude comes across as pretty douchy.

I mean, it makes sense. If you were upset about how little money you made in your career, wouldn't you purposefully act like like a ****** to ensure you don't get another lucrative head coaching job?

And he was playing against other team's top lines? Umm. He had some of the cushiest minutes of all Jackets' defensemen, and he was still getting killed in the possession game.

BUT HE HAD TWO GWGs OMGz!

And of course any buy-out effectively ends a player's career. It had nothing to do with how he was playing. I mean I can't think of anyone that was able to produce in the NHL after a buy-out besides Vincent Lecavalier, Vinny Prospal, Ray Emery, Bill Guerin, Tom Gilbert, Todd Bertuzzi, Ilya Bryzgalov and a few others.

Frankly, I think that this is more likely than Commodope's version.

The funniest thing about the story isn't Commodore's silly conspiracy stuff, its that he felt like he actually played well after leaving Carolina. Dude was a pylon.

This seems to be literally spot on.

Can't believe I'm the first to bring the infamous Commodore picture to this thread.

EDIT: In fact, that picture of Commodore was apparently hung in the CBJ locker room as an example of how not to act as a young player.

"We had a media day here, about how to handle the media. It was nice timing with that picture coming out. That is now Exhibit A," Commodore said with a laugh. "I'm setting an example for the young guys on what not to do. Being a good leader here."

Regardless of Commodore's credibility, the choice of Arniel was a poor one imo.

but hes doing a good job. who would you rather have? this is the first time in a long time that we have an above average power play and arniel is a large part of that.

Yeah I mean he just isn't a NY fit from the sounds of it, and the Rangers have been non-responsive, not giving full effort for more than 30+ games counting preason under this coaching staff.

I think that alone speaks volumes. At some point, if this keeps up, James Dolan is going to need to step up and ask are they committed to winning... or just working things out and hoping for the best?

Uh, Arniel runs the power play and it's the best it's been since the heydays of Jagr. AV is the head coach, he's the one to complain about for the effort (and I'm not reallllly convinced it's the coach, they did this under Tortorella too, not sure what the deal is)

e: I mean, the ONE thing that we know Arniel is responsible for is actually working pretty well. If the Rangers had this power play in previous years then Tortorella probably doesn't get fired and the Rangers make it to the finals in 2012.
