Value of: Mikael Granlund UFA 2025

Montreal, here’s your short term quality 2C fix. I know he’s not 25 but he’s still a damn good 2C option.

I think he could end up with the Canes if he takes a modest bargain (maybe 3 yrs @ 4 per). Just seems like a good fit stylistically. And they’ve got a ton of cap space.
Why would he take a discount as a top UFA center from a team with a ton of cap room?

About half of the league could benefit to upgrade their 2C position. He’s going to get paid on the UFA market
Exactly he is a guy who will be writing his own ticket as he is part of the limited supply and larger need market.

Frankly I have zero idea where he ends up and my Canucks are in deep need of a #2 center but I'm not sure if he is a good fit long term here.

You seem to have trouble reading and isn't the best at numbers. You didn't quite understand his numbers from the past 3yrs.
The guy was obviously being sarcastic but his overall points is kinda true.

He would be a good fit with the Canes but he will also get a much better offer or 3 than a 3X4 deal so if the money is important he will probably end up with. 4x5.5 or 3x just under 6 from someone.

The UFA market is where teams overpay and it makes sense they aren't giving up any assets, it's just money.

That's not happening, with the way the cap is going up. I can see him getting 3 x 6M or so. The guy has excellent hands, vg IQ, great passer, and has turned himself into a good two way player over the years. Positionally versatile...still think he is at his best as a wing.

He never had any physicality, or speed.

MTL wants to get smaller at forward?
He’s a good 2C that’s an option that’s potentially available this summer so we don’t have to see 825600 fantasy hockey trades for everyone else’s core pieces.

I dont think there's much chance of Dallas keeping him, but if Nill chose him over Duchene (I'd be ok with that), the Stars being a contender and all of our Finns certainly could work in favor of keeping him below market value.

He's bounced around a lot on some really bad teams lately. It's not crazy to see him wanting some stability on a great team with a ton of fellow countrymen. That being said, I would still expect him to be gone on July 1st.

Agree with you but the fact is it will cost around 6M for 2 or 3 years due to lack of center UFA this year so the price to acquired him will be higher

I figure he will be in the 7x 3/4 years range with the rising cap and the desperation from nearly half of playoff hopefuls for the position.

I would disagree about him being a good 2 way player. I think he's bad defensively at evens, especially as a center. He's just not strong enough to force plays away from the slot.

However, he's excellent on special teams. His IQ and stick work is an asset on the PP and PK. So I think he's a 2nd line special teams specialist in an ideal situation.

Idk why but I feel like Philly will pay him the big bucks. They need centers, any centers they can get and he could be a good compliment to Michkov.
