Pettersson for Anderson and Kadri

I don't want to trade Backlund unless he asks.

Anderson alone half retained would be first and wallinder imo
I’m a Flames fan and think this is unfair. Pete is worth more than Conny would be willing to pay. Kadri only has value to the right team. I don’t think Vancouver is one of them.

And did you even read what I wrote? They can't half-ass tank because they traded their first with top 10 protection, and they won't full on tank because they are 1 point out of a playoff spot. Playing another month at this pace, then trading andersson, won't take them from 15th in the league all the way to the bottom 10.
Again completely missing my point. A month from now if they are more or less out of the playoffs race in the west (and with only 1 spot available and their scoring woes that is absolutely possible) then selling is logical. It doesn't matter whether Montreal has their 1st or not.

Also again the point difference between them and bottom 10 right now is 5 points. Andersson is one of the top shot blockers in the league this year. Without him Calgary is icing 1 legitimate top 4 defenseman and Weegar can't be on the ice all game.

IMO Andersson is not available, unless he's thinking of skipping town. I don't think Flames are looking to be "bad for a decade" bad.

Backlund? He's old, so he can go I suppose, but it's gonna take a HUGE overpay from the Canucks compared to other teams. Or maybe part of a larger deal for Petterson?

Backlund is a 35 year old pacing for 40 points. Hes not gonna command a 1st +....
He's an advanced stats darling and has finished top 10 in Selke voting multiple times. GMs looking for a shutdown 3C who can take the toughest match ups would salivate over Backlund if he were made available.

Btw, 40pts is close to his career average. By the stats, he has not regressed this season, if anything he's actually been better.

The Vancouver Canucks are in a tail spin, what they need is veteran players to calm the situation in the lockeroom down. And Mikael Backlund and Rasmus Andersson can provide that leader ship where they can provide leadership and get the situation under control.

What would the Flames be able to get for Mikael Backlund and Rasmus Andersson retained(for both or one) from the Vancouver Canucks?
Pettersson?

If they're trading Petterson how would they not be looking for a replacement center?
Because they should get a better and younger centre for Pete. Kadri is not in the same ballpark as a 26 year old top line centre signed to a really nice contract. If this offer was turned around and it was the Flames trading Pete for Andy and Kadri we’d feel like that’s a low ball offer and be upset

They were three points out a playoff spot last deadline and finished in the bottom 10. If the goalies slump they will go on a long losing streak.

The weird thing is Calgary is full-on tanking, they traded 3 of their Top 5 Dmen last season, they traded their 2 leading point scorers from 22-23 and their number 1 goalie and a 2nd line winger to top it off.

I'm not sure of any team that makes those trades over 16 months, without returning anyone meant to step in and immediately replace those players and wouldn't be considered full tanking.
20 million in cap space as well. I bet Conroy thought he had a bottom five roster

They could get younger for sure. They aren't getting better.

And if they somehow find a younger and better center, that team won't be adding a top pairing RD
