Please try and refrain from personal attacks towards Mika's personal life. If you want to criticize his play on the ice, absolutely go to town. If you want to criticize his comments in the recent article about his ice time, no problem whatsoever. But some of you have crossed that line into more personal affairs.

The issue is we are crossing that line into more libel comments, or misrepresenting the truth, and prying into his personal life, and has led to wild speculation to why he is playing poorly. This is something here at HF boards we try to avoid, when it comes to false info and/or misrepresentation of the truth. Thank you for understanding.

I have no steak in this, but very sad we need a disclaimer not to personally attack a player about his life style or background instead of on-ice performance.

That being said, we can all have some serious beef regarding him complaining about ice time.

Most important question is when will his line stop being called the 'first line'. I believe the writing will be in the tea leaves when Sam and Joe start calling Zib and Panarin lines 1a and 1b, and eventually when Chytil lines is out scoring Zib line for months they'll just go with '3 scoring lines' even though only two of them do the scoring lol

All those meat references and spelling mistakes to meats makes this an impossible burger.

Anyway. Marchand got yelled at by his coach and responded the right way as a captain. Does Mika realize he has to be accountable as a leader on this team? I know the last 2 coaches didn't hold the vets accountable...

No, Mikka will just get wait it out for the coach to be fired.

I have no problem with what Mika said about ice time. He was just answering Brooks' question about minutes, not going out of his way to complain about it. He said what any player in the league would say about ice time.

I do have problems with his willingness (or lack thereof) to engage in 50/50 battles and his carelessness with the puck on his stick.

It’s a problem with a lot of our guys and I’ve feared it’s going to stop them from winning it all, but he doesn’t get pissed, doesn’t ever play like an asshole, etc. You don’t need guys who are that all the time but you need guys who are able to get that mindset going and a lot of our guys, most notably Mika, are just too even keeled and low key all the time.

Considering a player's personal life might affect his on ice play, how is it not relevant?
Maybe it's because you know shit all about him? And all the personal conjecture is just utter bullshit people make up in their mind's to make themselves feel better about his diminishing play?

It seems that way. I always thought you need a couple of guys on the team that hate to lose more than they like to win.

Hearing stories about Henrik and what he'd said himself, he was that type. Too bad he wasn't a forward like Crosby.

Ok, so he's either physically washed, doesn't care, or he's having personal issues. None of these are good.

Yeah that's about it. Nothing we can do about it. Unless something gets reported or he says something himself, we won't really know.

All someone like @Leonardo87 is saying is take it easy on the drawing wild conclusions from the fact that he's simply married, doesn't scream in an interview, or has the audacity to have interests outside of hockey.

You can't say he has personal issues!

We're not the NY Post, I'm not sure why it matters if we're conjecturing if he has the passion for hockey that you need to succeed to your highest potential. It's literally just a message board.

I swear he is significantly slower this year. He has no speed on the rush and gets boxed out every time. Has no play to make so he either dumps the puck in and loses the foot race to it, or gives it up without a fight along the boards when the opposing defenseman closes the gap. He looks EXACTLY like Laf did his first two years trying to create offense on the rush but lacking the speed.

I hate Gallant as much as the next guy, but he actually did call Mika out a few times and even yelled at him at least once during a game for whining to the refs. Mika was actually acceptable under Gallant so maybe he does respond to being put in his place from time to time from his Coaches. As far as TOI you are right though, he hasn't been held accountable until right now so we'll see how he responds in the coming weeks. Spotlight is fixed on him from all sides for the first time so I am actually encouraged by the solidarity on his play of late.

Part of me says Hey, if you wanna be an ignorant douchebag, be my guest! I'm not a moderator. Preferred by me because then I get to know a person's true mettle.

Yes, the true test of the mettle of a person is conjecture is a player doesn't have passion for the game. Once again, it's that or physical limitations. Neither of which are good.

Hey, I wonder if Mika has the passion for the game? Valid question. Really not answerable unless you know him. That's not what some have been doing on here.

We can agree, whatever the reason, it's not good for the team nor you as a fan.
