In the Blues game end of second period scrum he grabbed Buch so he wouldnt get hurt and let Cuylle and Rempe deal with Parayko. Then yesterday Dach starts the battle against him and he lets Cuylle take on 2 guys, Quick throw punches for him and Berard (a rookie in his 5th game lol) get paired of with WiFi. Pathetic showing from this guy and I expect more of the same against NJ tonight. Keep playing for the power plays you bum.
Exactly, he goes out of his way to not have any type of confrontation, he needs to be gone, you can't build a team with players who won't have each other's back. If he doesn't want to be a 6'3 nhl player in ny he should pack his bags.

I don't even vaguely expect ZIbanejad to be mixing it up in scrums...lotta "big" skill NHL players aren't getting in there and fighting with other guys, it's far more his passive attitude in terms of puck battles and management that's a big goddamn deal

I agree with this entirely, but also the next post that says they’re symptoms of the same problem. Malkin is hardly a really pugnacious player but he goes hard after the puck and he is always scrumming after whistles. It’s feistiness. Fight in the dog, so to speak. No one expects it to be more than some shoves and some mouthing off but then he also WANTS his puck. Same with Mackinnon. Same with Sutzle. There’s plenty of skill guys, big and small, whom you don’t want in the penalty box OR getting hurt but who show that they’re simply spirited competitors all over the ice, including being a bit lippy or feisty after the whistle. Mika is not feisty or competitive before or after the whistle. He is a talented individual with very nice size who is passive in virtually every thing that he does, and which makes him about 50% as effective as he could be if he just WANTED it.

Posted in reply to a NYR Facebook update today. I almost choked on my coffee.

Mika did more hugging the net, than getting involved in a scrum. How the hell does he wear an A? It's an embarrassment to those that wore it previously. No team wins with players that soft in the NHL, especially in the playoffs. To build the team around a soft passive center that would be scared to fight his own shadow is a pathetic excuse for a hockey player.

I wish Rangers had skill guys with some fire. Lafy seemed to have that but he has been quiet lately too. I expected him to be better especially after he signed his contract. One reason I want to see Cuylle get more ice time. He has that in him.

From a fans perspective, he's just become so f***ing unlikeable. He makes me want to rip my hair and eyes out.

I wish him no ill will personally and if he's dealing with something that sucks, and hope it gets resolved.

But if you had to point to one individual as the biggest culprit in this mess of a team and not pulling their weight, it's him.

If he was more vocally and sincerely accounatable about his shit play, played with any semblance of physicality/heart, i might have a different feeling about him.

Right now he's an 8.5M pumpkin and the main driver of this sinking ship.

I'm getting tired of players on other teams looking like they're messing with our players in bullet time, their hands moving 3x faster than ours as they dangle around us or strip the puck away from us as we try and think of our next move.

He thought he played well against Barkov in the ECF. Unserious player.

I don’t know that I’ve ever disliked a Ranger more than this guy. Not only is his play in serious decline but it seems as if he just has no inclination to increase his effort level whatsoever. Re-signing him to the contract he’s currently on closed the rangers window shut for this group of players. The FO needs to do everything in their power to force him to waive his clause. Theres probably a few GMs who think he just needs a change and they can unlock something.

He attempted like 4 (consecutive?) slap shots on the power play last night. He's trying!

Shit his play might be but far from the worst player on the team. Be more level headed my fellow Rangers brothers and sisters.
Hint: Look up the score cards from the past 4-5 games. You might be surprised.

Call me a heretic but using these color coded charts to say Mika Zibanejad has played well delegitimizes them.
Facts over feelings is hard.

Also, can you point to where I said that he has played well? All I said was that he is far from the worst player on the team.

Did anyone say he was the worst player on the team? Overpaid maybe, but in both cases hes got lots of competition.

pretty sure everyone agrees lindgren is the worst.

Zibanejad i believe is generally held as the most overpaid, along with Trouba
Not named Trouba and Lindgren. I thought that fact was a given.

You are on these boards frequently enough to know better. The game threads are filled with comments bashing him as the worst player on the team.

All I am advocating for is us as fans to be level headed in our critic of players. This place would be much healthier if that were the case.

to know better than to what? I am very level headed in my critique of players, and of Zibanejad. along with Trouba he's currently the most overpaid player on the team.

That contract looks worse and worse every game. If they really wanted to get rid of him it would have to be like what Minnesota did with Parise and Suter and just biting the bullet on a buyout. Either way, pain. Lots and lots of pain.

I am sorry if I was unclear. I meant that you have been around here long enough to know that Zibanejad is being bashed for far more than just being overpaid. I actually like you as a poster quite well and I think you are one of the level headed ones.

Problem is Zib's contract is buyout proof. You buy him out next season, you only save $667,000 for the remainder of the original contract.
