Does anyone expect this weak f*** to actually go into beast mode in his offseason training? f*** no. This guy Does. Not. f***ing. Care.

He’s going to enjoy his summer with family, and do bare minimum in the off season.

Wont get faster, stronger, or have a better conditioning program with dietary changes, etc etc.

Will never win with him. A weak, pathetic loser.

Anyone that thinks Mika is good enough to be 1C, is the reason we won’t win another cup

Pp merchant who needs his spot handed to an ascending star ASAP.

Mika scored 41 EV points. He’s a 45 point player if you put him on PP2.

Thats 3C territory for a Cup winner. You cant have this type of player making $8m, despite solid defense.

Goodbye. We had some memories but I won’t really miss you. Your were the best center the Rangers have had in ages but they need their own MacKinnon high end 1C or at least an Eichel and you aren’t it.

Nah Trocheck is the better center. Playoff production should be much more heavily weighted.

I have been on to this man ever since I saw him interviewed at his home 3 years ago and didn't like his responses. I realized then he doesn't love hockey and doesn't give a shit about being a Ranger and doesn't really value it either. So he can go f*** himself in Sweden or Siberia for all I care and go DJ to those people over there. f*** him forever and please once and for all get this one trick pony out of the team. He can't even pull off the only trick he was ever good at anymore.

I was told the same thing about Panarin last offseason and then he came back and had the best season of his career.

Followed by another weak showing in the playoffs. They are who they are, elite regular season players who cannot or won’t play the game the way it has to be played in the playoffs to win a championship. Running it back with a new supporting cast will not change this year’s result IMO.

Yikes that sounds like it's not even the same interview I was thinking of so it seems like an ongoing thing but I remember a podcast where he said hockey wasn't his favorite sport (soccer is). Also mocked Americans for thinking their country is a great place to live lmao. So unlikeable.

I believe he DJs in the off-season. Someone here should hire him and force him to play Loser by Beck over and over again.

This is one of the more insane takes I’ve seen from HFboards. Do you know him personally or do you only see what he posts on social media?

Mika and Trouba are this teams 2 biggest problems. One of them is basically untradeable unfortunately. I want them both gone.
Yup. And both will likely be back. That's why I'm super down on this team right now. They're going to run the same shit show out there. Beat up on bad teams during the regular season and get smoked in the playoffs.

There is no such thing as a playoff player. This year you'd have said Trocheck was a great playoff performer. Before this year he was horrible in the playoffs.

Before this year you'd have said Pavelski was a great playoff performer. Now he has 4 points in 18 games. Sometimes players are good. Sometimes players are bad. Trying to guess who is going to be good in a playoff series is fool gold. It's mostly randomness around their level.

Not to mention both Zibanejad/Panarin's Bad Playoffs was still a point/game. The PP was a problem in the last series. So was the absolute non factor of the entire bottom six and defense except Goodrow. It can't be only the top guys. You have cuylle who had like 5 points his last 40 games. Kakko who stopped scoring in the playoffs. Wennberg who has no offense. Rempe who is a side show. They shouldn't be expected to score a lot but it also shouldn't be zero.

I disagree. I think there will be changes starting with the defense. They also didn't get smoked in the playoffs. They won 10 playoff games games and got to the 3rd round. They just need to get over the hump. Florida is just a clearly better team that is going to win the cup. It doesn't mean that things are going to turn out the same next year. Lets see what happens.

You dont get to this level in your profession without caring. Hard work and determination gets you there. Bad take Nev.

Very unhinged post.. Why do you hate him so much? Mika wont go anywhere so might as well take a breath and relax and hope that this was an off year for him. An off year where he still produced PPG in the playoffs.

I think we all need to have faith that Mika will bounce back next season. Year one as a father to a newborn, it must have been tough to be fully committed to the game. Maybe next year will be better.
This. I dont understand why people seem to forget this. We have heard from numerous players that their play takes a dip when their first child arrives.

Now I've f***ing heard it all. It doesn't matter if he has one kid, two or twenty. He is a millionaire who gets paid to do this PROFESSIONALLY. It is called being a PROFESSIONAL. I laugh at the idea of telling my boss my performance dipped because I had a newborn. LMFAO.

And yet, it is a thing in professional sports.

And lets not forget that this is a player who always comes back stronger after injuries. If he didnt care he would half ass it in rehab. The notion that he is lazy and do not care needs to stop.

Taking a step back from the playoffs, it was an absolutely abysmal season from him. To the point I’m hoping a legitimate excuse comes to light.

5 EV goals in 62 games since Jan 1

13 EV goals in 97 games total for 2023-2024
These are Mika's totals since joining the Rangers.

16-17: 56 games played. 10 EV goals (14 total goals; 37 points)
17-18: 72 GP. 13 EV goals (27 TGs; 47 points)
18-19: 82 GP. 17 EV goals (30 TGs; 74 points)
19-20: 57 GP. 23 EV goals (41 TGs; 75 points)
20-21: 56 GP. 12 EV goals (24 TGs; 50 points)
21-22: 81 GP. 13 EV goals (29 TGs; 81 points)
22-23: 82 GP. 18 EV goals (39 TGs; 91 points)
23-24: 81 GP. 12 EV goals (26 TGs; 72 points)

Basically every season is a 50/50 split of EV and PP goals for him. This was just regular season, I didn't look at playoffs.

I'd imagine 13 in 97 is probably his worst stretch and some of that does include having a baby.

Unfortunately that’s 90% of our team. Mika, Fox, Lindgren, Miller, Trouba are allergic to the weight room.

We all see what happened with Laf once he stepped up his offseason work.
