Mika Zibanejad Vicious head to Pelech's shoulder.

There's only one word to describe that. "Collision".

It's not unusual to see Lavi trying to play the refs - they have another game coming up and could play each other in the playoffs. If he's willing to risk looking a little silly for his team, that's fine. Coaches do it all the time.

Laviolette is definitely willing to look silly here.

I disagree that NHL coaches commonly reach this level of melodramatic clown behavior in pressers though.

I also don’t know why refs would be watching a coach’s post game, and if they did, I don’t know if they would do anything other than have a good laugh.

Some might even call this a horrifying act of violence.

The hypocrisy from this fanbase/franchise is palpable. Fully supports their guy running around throwing elbows and cheer the results but when an incidental play leading to one of their own getting injured they're calling for retribution, "we need to dress Rempe"!

The other guys shoulder elbow missed Nico Hischier on one of the most obvious intent to injures last season. I’m sure it would have been touted as a hockey play if he connected.

Think Laviolette is just standing up for his guys here. He’ll send Rempe out on Saturday and that’ll be that. Also didn’t have a problem with this hit, but though Dobson’s hit on Trocheck was much worse

Pretty much this. Not much to complain about on the Zib situation. Assuming it’s some mental games from Lavi for the team.

That's a 10 minute misconduct for gross embellishment.

On Laviolette, I mean. I think Pete's urine needs a check.

I can’t decide which coach acted more obtuse in front of the media.

a. Mike Sullivan after the stupidest goaltender interference challenge of all time declaring "if someone can tell me what is and isn't goaltender interference, we're all ears"

or

b. Peter Laviolette declaring a "vicious elbow" when one of his players clearly ran into another player while looking the other way.

I get coaches are humans. They're imperfect. They have emotions like all of us. But this kind of stuff doesn't do them any favors with anyone.

Like I said in the GDT at the time of that incident, that was just Zibanejad displaying some Jack Johnson level on-ice awareness. It's like when Johnson did this when trying to make a line change:

Coincidentally, Pelech was involved in this situation as well.

LOL his face in the thumbnail

Remidned me of this -

Among the most ridiculous coach reactions to any kind of hit or injury that I can remember.

Nico Hischier is in a wheel chair if Trouba connected on that

This collision reminds me of people walking around staring in their dumbphones all the time, not watching their surroundings.

f***ing rat tactic disguised as incidental, he saw Z going for the change and Zibanejad can be a real idiot but remember the onus is on Adam to not stick his f***ing wing out while toeing near the line behind the play. This is Roy getting his Isles to "out-dirty" a team like the Rangers at this time of year and that's fine, desperate Hockey. Send a postcard from Carolina.
