Hrs over 30. 31 1/2 you be exact. Around this age many players start to decline
Yup, especially ones who would rather be a DJ than a hockey player, can't imagine him practicing very hard or keeping his fitness up

I laughed at the thread on the Rangers POV but now that I read the comments, I'm sorry what? The point per game center on a rather friendly contract with only 5 years left getting traded for what's looking to be a one hit wonder and people are saying the ducks are getting fleeced? This site sometimes...
Rather friendly contract? He has a top 5 worst contract in the league.

There has never been a team in the history of teams that would trade a 23 yo player for a guy 8 years older. It doesn't really matter who the guy in question is, you're giving up cost control, RFA eligibility, and the ability to fit more guys under your cap, not to mention the team in question is still rebuilding, the upgrade you get from Zibenajad over Zegras isn't going to catapult them into the playoffs. What the hell are the Ducks going to do when Zibanejad is 35 and retires and Zegras is 28 hitting his prime with another 7 years left to that point? It's just bad asset management. And that all assumes Zib doesn't fall off a cliff as he gets older which is a risk just as much as it is a risk that Zegras never produces at the same level again.

Ziba is slowing down so bad they'd rather get a guy with 3 points on the season!

You have to read the tea leaves.

The Zib for Wright or Zib for Zegras proposals aren't about the player coming back. The player coming back is a trojan horse for the other team not to notice that the Rangers actually want to dump Zbad's contract for nothing.

I can't see Zibanejad waiving his NMC to go to Anaheim. He took a haircut on his AAV at the time he signed and got himself a bullet proof contract that ensures he cannot be moved from the Rangers. They are stuck with him.

I get that Zegras is a very talented young player but his game has gone south the past couple years.

It's gone south when he's played hurt and/or been at LW. His play at C has been good. Last year 5 of his 7 points early on were at C when Carlsson was out, and that was while playing hurt and before the broken ankle. After he came back and was finally healthy he had 8 in 11 games, mostly playing C again.

This year points have been hard to come by for everyone ... he and Carlsson can't buy an assist because no one can score. Not because neither are creating chances.

Put it this way, McTavish has more points, but Ducks fans see him as far more disappointing.

He still has value even declining, but it's not gonna be to a team like the Ducks. They're not gonna be anywhere near the playoffs while he's still good. Their window won't even start for at least 2-3 years even if all goes well with the rebuild.

Absolutely laughable. 8.5m with 5 years left for a 70+ points center isn't even top 50 worst contract in the league. My Habs have two worse in Anderson and Gallagher alone.
His offense is declining, and at this point all he produces is empty points on a PP unit he doesn’t even belong on. He’s terrible 5 on 5 for a supposed 1C (he’s like the Rangers third best center), and has been atrocious defensively since the playoffs last year. Routinely gets caved playing against top centers. Can’t drive play.

So you have a PP specialist 2C who is bad defensively. Not sure that’s worth 8.5 million. Acting like it’s a positive to have a 31 year old being paid that for another 5 years while he declines is deluded. He’s not 24. You are paying for decline years. And he has a buyout proof contract. That’s easily one of the worst contracts in the NHL.
