Can anybody tell me why yall hate KAM? Yall were hyping him up at one point.
Someone recenlty said, and i think it was Avery on the SC podcast. The difference between McDonagh and KAM at the same age is McD was coming out of a corner scrum with the puck and making the correct dish after.

KAM has so many tools, but just isnt making the instinctual plays a seasoned defender would.

Now, McD was exceptional so thats an unfair comparison. He saw the ice and developing plays at an elite level and knew how to skate to make the space smaller for the attacking players.

But, KAM is athletically equal. He just doesnt have the experience. Some NCAA and a couple pro years? He was a forward most of his pre-adult years. And honeslty, Housley has been a disaster of a D Coach.

Im not sold on ditching Key. After he came back from his injury hes the only one to speak to the press in a non-depressed state outside of Kakko who paid the price because he said it wrong.

But NYR are facing a contract year with him and its gonna include term. The cap hit he seeks may have alot to do with wether he is moved or not moreso than his play. I personally give him a pass on his play atm due to coaching.

Full disclosure: Ive brought up trading him previously, but thats my personal preference when all our D were playing better. I see more Tom Poti than Ryan McDonagh. And this team needs more out of its top 4 than a Tom Poti clone.

Land of no calls..
So what happened with Miller? Rangers fans had been talking him up pretty strongly for a while and then…just a case of good physical tools that looked good and then no progression?

It's a lot of things going wrong. Lacks confidence. Lacks a consistent partner. Our defensive scheme is an absolute train wreck. And for a guy who moved to D later than most it's tough to have as many coaches in his pro career as he's had so far.

I think he's suffering because of the room as much as anyone. Nobody there to take him under his wing. The org is a complete mess.

What do you hope to get out of a thread that starts off like this?

I’d do Mika for Josh Anderson at this point and even the Habs say no. Mika is done. Cooked. This not a fluke I’d rather not play him. He hurts the team more when he is on the ice.
This would make no sense. I'm also pretty sure most Montreal fans take this, quite easily.
EDIT: As mentioned later in this thread, I read this as Miller and not Mika. So my apologies.

I don't think Miller is mentally strong enough. I also don't think the current system is great for him, or any of our D.

Nobody in MTL would take that contract, Anderson is our most physical forward and he's a beast on the pk. Only 2 years remaining.

One of the major problems I see with KAM is that he doesn't think the game well enough to be a top pair Dman, and he isn't physical enough to go against bottom six grind line, energy types.

He wilts like flowers in a drought with any type of forecheck pressure whatsoever.

I’d give KAM a redemption tour in Calgary if the price was right. Though no idea what the rangers would want for him from the Flames
