Last game was the half way mark of the season.

I'm curious how people think things have gone in the first half as a whole. For me it's just felt like a big ol' bucket of meh. The team should be challenging for best in the league, and they just haven't done that so far. I'm so over having a miserable start to the season and then playing catchup the rest of the year.

Thank goodness Draisaitl has been having an MVP caliber first half.

Curious how others feel.

Here are some stats:
Oilers record after 41 games - 25-13-3, 53 points (on pace for 106)
Currently sitting 3rd in the division and 6th in the Western Conference
GF/G - 8th
GA/G - 10th
PP - 8th
PK - 24th
SF/G - 1st
SA/G - 4th
Team sh% - 23rd
Team sv% - 16th
Points % - 8th

I have;
Top-6 - Great, Leon is doing an MVP thing, McDavid will likely get to 130 points, Podkolzin is killing it and the other guys are coming around after some injuries.

Bottom-6 - Has been good, need a bit more consistency, but a lot of positive contributions out of the group.

Defense - Has been Great, truly. Nurse has played like a top pairing guy, Ekholm has continued to play like a #2A, Kulak has become a bonified top-4 defenseman, and Stetcher and Emberson have really solidified their spots. Bouchard needs to clean up and pick it up, but honestly this group has been great.

Goaltending - Has be Mediocre, Skinner has picked it up a lot lately, but Pickard is trending toward AHL goalie, which I don't love. Need more here.

The team overall has been great, the have the best record an Oilers team has had since 86-87, they're very good and still have room to improve.

Because goals win games I am looking at the spread out of scoring (going into tonight's game)

Drai 31 goals
McDavid 16 goals
Hyman 13 goals after a slow start
Bouchard/ Skinner 7
--Problem is that Skinner sucks in his own zone and unless you are on pace for 30 to 40 goals it is a problem
Ekholm/Perry/Brown 6 goals each
Henrique/Kulak/Arvidsson-- Like Hyman, Henrique got off to slow start--both him an Arvedsson are good two way players but have had trouble soring goals. Arvedsson got injured again and that was the concern when we signed him--he has missed 15 games--Hopefully he manages to stay healthy for the rest of the season
Kasperi Kapanen/Vasili Podkolzin are the two surprises for me so far with 4 goals a piece.
Nurse with 4 goals

But the problem is in net. Both Skinner and Packard went into tonight's game sporting a .895 save % and the just is not good enough

Oilers are 10th in scoring and 8th in goals given up
