It must be hard to find 1X's right now because I threw mine up on Marketplace for like $300 with a couple add ons and had 150 messages in like a couple hours.

They stopped manufacturing them last year or something. I haven't put mine on sale yet though I've asked a couple of friends.

External HDDs don't really cost that much. 4 TB and upwards don't cost "that" much. They are just fine as storage devices for games. It doesn't really take that long to transfer games to the internal SSD and vice versa.

You can't use external drive with next gen optimized games. You get prompted to move it to the internal drive.

That's not too bad. I'll end up having Halo 5, Master Chief Collection, and the Mass Effect trilogy all over 100 GB in a few months and it'd be nice to punt one of the Halos to an external drive save space on the internal, and then swap them as needed (as the wife needs)

Those play off the hard drive. I don't know if BC games benefit that much from the SSD, though I'd need to see that tested.

MCC is Series X optimized. I’m not sure if it can actually play from external. No idea about Mass Effect.

Backwards compatible games only really benefit on the SSD with fast load times. And consistent frames, even if they’re just 30 and would have occasional drops last-gen.

So you play 7 to 8 games at once on your PS, and the other systems. Must not do much else, lol. For most people, this is not the case and the storage would be sufficient on the PS or Xbox.

not to mention you can “store” purchased games forever. Just have to delete something and reinstall it. Takes a 30+ min but wtf cares?

With my external, I've never had to reinstall a game. Of course, I'm only playing a few games at a time and I guess I'm in the minority. I'm sure the expansion slot will come down in price eventually.

I was thinking about buying the x, but the S was in stock so I just went for it. Holy shit I love this thing. I bought game pass ultimate for $1 for a few months use which has EA play included as well, been playing Fight Night which is a 360 game online got my ass whooped but it was fun, NHL 20 (I think 21 is set to come in April), It has NBA 2K as well, Sunset Overdrive, Fifa. I'm loving the experience so far. It doesn't do 4k but I'll be playing on a monitor anyway so that doesn't matter the refresh rate is a great addition with 120hz at 1440P. I've tried other features as well the cloud feature isn't quite ready it did work for some games, remote play is still something that is still being developed and isn't quite there yet. This cloud feature is currently only available on mobile and not the console itself which I find strange. The thing I love the most is switching between games and hardly any load times and the old Xbox games.

The one thing I hate about the S is the storage, I'm not sure why they would give it only 512 GB vs the 1TB the x has considering its the digital only console and the official expansion cards are $300 (cad) which is ridiculous, I'm sure theirs an alternative solution to this.

That's my biggest gripe about Next Gen Xbox and PS.
