I know we're living in the 90's revival era, but is it even possible to recapture the essence of Buffy in today's age?
Sounds like something that's bound to disappoint everyone.

Why though

That show ended with them defeating the ultimate evil.
It was a good ending

I don’t want the Matrix Resurrections all over again
Because people live for nostalgia

Damn, that's way too young.
Looking back, it felt like I was growing up with her through her shows.
I remember watching Harriet the Spy in middle school, then she showed up when I was watching Buffy in High School. And Eurotrip came out around the time I was starting college and I was looking forward to backpacking around Europe at some point.

Gonna go listen to Scotty Doesn't Know tonight

I cant believe she was left off the in memoriam on the Oscars. Hackman was included so it wasnt a timing thing.

Shame on Hollywood!
It could be because she's more famous for being a TV star. Harriet the Spy, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl were all hit TV shows, while the few movies that she did, like EuroTrip and Ice Princess, were not hits at the box office. I didn't watch the Oscars, so I don't know how minor the celebrities that they remembered got, but that'd be my guess at the reason. I would expect this year's Emmys to remember her (if they have a similar tradition).

Harriet The Spy was a huge kids movie

It’s not like it happened long enough ago that it would be easily forgotten. It was just last week.

And of course we all knew it was coming.

Oh, my mistake. I thought that it was a TV show. It was well after my time.

It looks like it made only $26.6M at the box office, though, so I don't know about "huge." Either way, her career was more in TV and that's a plausible reason why they didn't include her, though maybe they should have, especially since her death is fresh in everyone's minds.

Trust me it was big w the kids, my nieces and their friends loved it, they would run around w spy notebooks

They messed up on this one. Hollywood losers. they can mention someone n both and she should have been mentioned here

Alain Delon was left out too and he was a massive star who just never worked in Hollywood. Considering they give out a best foreign film award, I'd say he should've been included. They also left out Jim Abrahams, Tony Todd, Olivia Hussey and Shannon Doherty. They included a lot of people I've never heard of but I get that they have to include people who work behind the scenes too.

I think she was excluded from the Oscars "In Memoriam" section because she was more of a TV actress than a movie star. She did a handful of movies, but she was most recognized as an actress for her roles on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl, both TV shows. But this news was extremely fresh in everyone's minds, as she passed away only a few days before the Oscars, and her death is more tragic than the others due to her age and the circumstances.

I think the next Emmys and the next Golden Globes will include her. The next Oscars...maybe. We'll see.
