Proposal: Michael Hage, 16th & 17th for Caleb Desnoyers

I think if you forsure want him you need a top 5 pick. I have him at 5 personally.

I think this also depends on the team. The Ducks are coming out of a rebuild and have a ton of prospects. We don't need more mid 1sts. We need a last shot at a top of the lineup player.

A team just starting to bottom out might be more willing.

IDK. Maybe I'm underrating Desnoyers, but I guess I'm expecting more people would be cautious about players coming out of the Q. A guy whose projection is largely based on his play in that league (which lets be honest hasn't produced a lot of high end NHLers recently) at the range of 5 would make me uncomfortable with some of the other names there.

Hage was drafted 21st overall just a year ago. Trading essentially the 16th, 17th and 21st overall picks for a guy who goes top7/9 is overkill.

Trade Hage and 17th pick into top 7, select Desnoyers and with 16th pick someone like Cole Reschny or Kashawn Aitcheson

If I was Nashville I would do it team is lacking prospects/youth all around and getting back a center prospect and 2 1sts te restock the cupboard seems useful as I don't see Hage all that far behind desoyners or o'brien also allows them more wiggle room in planning for the future
Edit: if I was Philly I wouldn't do it as they are lacking high end center prospects and to me Hage is luchacko territory as a mid six c prospect with a shot at being a top 6 c

Q is just as good as the USHL.

WHL and OHL overall probably better but all 4 are around same skill level.

Desnoyers has been great on international stage if you’re that worried about the Q.

LOTS of potential as a top line centre who plays both ends of the ice

Sure, but I'd definitely take 6 guys before him.

Who? I’d take Schaefer, misa, Martone, Frondell over him for sure.

Hagens, O’Brien I see as an equal. Could see as high as 5 or as low as 9 depending on where guys like Mrtka, Smith and maybe Brady Martin go (Philly or Boston may take him early)

Yeah I think this is more of the issue than anything. Philly has like 7 picks in the top-45 this year, why would they trade down from 6 to get 2 more?

In the top-6, I don't think any of the top-3 trade down for that value, while Utah and Philly don't need more picks. That leaves Nashville at #5, but if Hagens slips to #5, I don't think there's any chance that they pass on him. I don't think Desnoyers lasts beyond pick #6.

Hage doesn't strike me as a throw in

I'd probably do that as a Bruins fan if Desnoyers fell to #7. Hage would immediately become their top prospect and they'd get two swings in the middle of the first (who would probably become their second and third best prospects).
I agree Bruins do that in a heart beat, but i think it's too much...and Desnoyers will not be there at 7...Philly will take him 100% they already have his brother as a prospect, they know the familiy well and how pros they are...

The team giving up the top 5 pick would have to really like Hage or dislike everyone in the top 8 of the draft otherwise it is a quantity for quality deal

The more I think about it Nashville should trade 5 for 16 and 17 along with Hage considering they have 2 other picks and with it being a steep drop off after hagens getting 4 picks plus Hage who looked decent this year seems like a higher chance of getting at least 2 hits in one draft they could target kindel, ravensbergen, zonnon, spence, potter, reschny, aitcheson, or maybe a draft day faller allowing them to have a glut of prospects to get filtered in as their vet movement declines as I see seem having 3 more attempts with the roster at maximum before they decide to rebuild it would be a savy move for them to do now before starting to rebuild putting them in prime position to a team in a very comfortable place however a second round pick and maybe a roster player to Montreal to even out the value

This is a forum, it's funny to me that you bash people that are fans of MON for answering, then ask to stop polluting the thread, then you go on and write "Thanks" one thousand times. A thumbs up is sufficient.

It's my turn to "pollute" the thread, answering all those who say Caleb Desnoyers is not a top-5 pick. Prepare to get shocked when he is selected by CHI at 3.

I could see him be a top-5 pick. I don't think he should be a top-5 pick, but teams reach on players like him in that range all the time.

"Reach" or get a top-6 center that has about no chance to bust?

Reach, mostly because "no chance to bust" prospects taken that high have in fact busted or were nowhere near being the top-6 players they were sold as. That's just my opinion though.

EDIT: Don't want to give the wrong impression, I don't think its a massive reach, but it seems like a big center tax when there are number of other comparable C prospects available.
