St. Joes?

Kidding of course. Hated going to Clove Lake though. Was fine though cause we usually came away with 2 points ;) .

Yeah Clove Lakes was a dump.. loved the locker room trailers though haha. Our program has risen through the ranks though! In the A division, made the finals 2 years ago. Don't wanna get too off topic but it's cool meeting people who used to play against us lol

I actually graduated from St. Joseph by the Sea a few years ago in 2011.. my junior year we were in the B division and played Xavier a few times and every game ended in some sort of fight haha.. when playoffs rolled around we were the 1 seed and they were 4, but they decided to drop out (I guess to prevent any brawls or something like that) They had a good team, a few really talented kids.. this year they're in first place in the B division. They've had a solid team for a few years.

It's cool seeing how that league evolves over the years. Hopefully the ice center can provide more ice time for schools and maybe a few more programs can get started up. I had a great time playing HS hockey, it would be great if that league could expand a bit.

What other HS hockey leagues do they have around the NY area besdies the CHSHL? Im curious to see how HS teams stack up around here. Usually you only read about NJ and even better Mass Prep Hockey.

And lol at the brawls! They fight with cages on or what?

I'm pretty sure the CHSHL is NYC's only high school league.. there are a number of leagues in Jersey and Westchester/upstate and I'm not sure about long island. I don't think the PSAL has ever sponsored hockey. On Staten Island in the 80's and 90's there was a club league that almost all of the public schools had teams in but that fizzled out in the past few years. Too expensive to maintain I guess.

Yep, cages and all. There was one time the opponent took his helmet off and tried to rip the helmet off of one of our guys.. fighting is an automatic 3 (or 5?) game suspension and our guy resisted so he wouldn't be suspended for playoffs. Our coaches were even going at it.. it was a great time hahaha

That's too funny. Man I wish they had hockey when I was there.

I'm surprised they let that fly though. I saw one of my old teachers recently and she told me that there is zero tolerance for fighting now in Xavier. We used to have a good share of fights outside after school ended, but I guess things are different now.
