Mersch making most of rookie season, aiding Monarchs' run through AHL playoffs

Weal if retained and not dealt at the Draft, will most likely be tried at RW. Williams is not coming back (highly doubtful), and Brown is Brown. So you have to do something on the right side.

Weal has the skill set to play wing just fine. The Kings have plenty of players that can go into corners, and come out with puck.

The Kings LACK skilled wingers, that can create their own offense. Weal can do that. I use to think the Kings wouldn't play guys like Weal either.

Mike Strothers changed my mind, seeing how he uses his players, and how the Kings allow him to, is eye opening.

As long as the Kings don't try and turn Weal into some sort of low skilled grinder, he will be fine. I think the Kings brass is finally starting to learn their lesson about letting players play their natural game.

Vey/Moller/Clifford/Loki/ have taught the Kings Brass some lessons the hard way.

Ok i have to ask are you in politics ? your certainly dancing around the question without giving me what i asked for. I asked you for a lineup with weal in it that you can see us using So i continue to ask you or anyone else Put him in a lineup I Had the guts to do it back up your claim to put him in the lineup.

I will agree hes got the skillset to play rw However where your putting in the lineup is where i'm going to have issues with. I'll wait to see where you put him to put my thoughts to it.

I also agree we need a skilled winger to replace Williams i've been saying all along. More then a 3c despite everyone saying the contrary

So again ill wait till you post a lineup to add more thoughts.

If you recall, they tried early on, but were cap-blocked by Slava's situation (the 100 dollar deal). Then they called him up again at the end of the season and inexplicably didn't play him. But you should believe they tried to play him early on with his fantastic camp and when we were shorthanded, so saying the boldfaced is true, but not completely accurate to the spirit of what happened.

he said play a game not get recalled Big difference between playing and sitting in the press box Who's to say he would have actually played at that time? He got recalled and didn't play at the end of the season Who to say with less ahl seasoning he would have played

He would've played in those games. If you recall, we didn't even have enough players to dress a full line up. We only had 17 skates for the whole game.

If i am remembering right we only had 5 defenseman I think even if he was recalled he would have been 13th forward. so really is playing 13 forward going to be playing more then a few mins ? I honestly don't I think it was a smoke screen cause we needed a defenseman at that time not another forward.

No, it was the forward that was missing. The next game the Kings were allow to recall Van der Gulik on emergency recall. Van der Gulik was recalled over Weal due to his lower cap hit. Van der Gulik played in that next game.

Fair enough i had forgot that Now i went and looked it up He played 5 mins and 5 secs Ok technically yes he did play However what could anyone show in that length of time. I think i would have rather left Weal in the ahl and played the van der gulik Hell even westgarth was getting more mins a game back when he was here. Also with that time i bet his line mate were nolan richards ( or who ever was 4th c at the time) not exactly the showcase for a player but technically i guess he would have "played"

Really is not the point at all. I was responding to the idea that "if he were that good, he would haveplayed." Well by all accounts he was a late cut at camp and was attempted to be the first call up to play early on in the year. Shore got the call later in the year as a reward and to be a 4C which he is likely better than Weal at (and after our bottom 6 centers started dipping). So to suggest the org not playing Weal tells us how they feel about him is misleading.

As stated again its not so much weal having the talent or not He obviously does Its more will Sutter use the talent in a way that he will succeed is where i question. If he puts him on 3rw there is no point in playing him because he has the skill to be in top 6 He will turn into another vey lokti moller etc... I also question whether sutter would actually play him enough mins to be effective no matter what line he is on. Also is it worth it to us to try and play him thru his growing pains in the top 6 We need to come out strong again this year and playing a pure rookie in top six is highly questionable and unlikely to me.

Weal will be successful anywhere you put the Kid, he is that talented in my mind.

He would be successful at 1-4 RW. Keep doubting the Kid, he is use to it.

I don't think anyone is really "doubting him". It just comes down to where he fits in our lineup and how he stacks up now, and will continue to stack up vs other prospects in our organization. When I look at our top wingers. I have a hard time placing him above, toffoli, gabby, pearson, king, brown, Mersch for top 6/9 roles. And an even harder time putting him above lewis/Clifford/Nolan for 4th line duty. And that's 9 wingers I just named. Teams can only play 8...

I don't think it will get any easier for him when guys like zykov, kempe, etc... start to mature into nhl ready prospects
