Most aggravating loss of the season. In every way.

Started with Cousins dressing over Gregor (nevermind Hamonic still playing). Ended with glorifying yet another billionth string goaltender, with plenty of ref bullsh*t and no-show 1st period in between.

Over There
I'm not going to dwell on this one. Some seriously shi-tty reffing really tilted the ice for much of the game. Take a break boys, come back strong vs EDM.

We aren't allowed to crash the net. Every time we get even near their net the refs call a penalty against us.

"2 minutes for putting your stick on the ice, since we've already called the first 2 interference and slashing, this one will be delay of game!"

Someone needs to be honest in the post game and take the fine from this clown ass league.

It's impossible to build momentum when the referees are calling back goals and inventing penalties every single time we get pressure.

Next week is huge for the Sens because with their opponents being Edmonton, Vegas and Vancouver they could easily find themselves on a 5 game losing streak here.

Ullmark needs to come up big and they gotta find a way to beat some of these teams.

You know the league is a joke when the max fine is 5k for deliberately injuring a a player and significantly more for calling out the refs.

Honestly even with the refs were betting on the game, the Canes deserved this win through and through. It wasn’t a close game.

They didn’t give us anything all game and when they did their goalie made the routine saves.

It sucks to have the refs making those calls but the outcome of the game was going to be a Sens loss.

On the bright side, I have barely missed games even in the worst of years, but I only watched a period and a bit of this horseshit tonight.

Also, I guess I’m glad Ullmark didn’t start? I get both arguments, but the way the refs tilted this, let the backup take it.

IMO this is the main problem. Tkachuck, Norris, Batherson, Pinto, Sando, Chabot, they don't generally create great chances on their own. They support play or take advantage of openings, but they aren't creating it themselves. Same for Giroux, mostly, due to being slower than he used to.
Solution is to draft tall defensemen who cross-check and get a lot of PIMs.

50+ years of watching hockey

I definitely recognize that fan bases are biased however I think the outcome of tonight's game was more influenced by the referees than perhaps any game I've ever seen

That Stuetzle play is a good goal

The Pinto play is not a penalty. And the too many men likely doesn't happen if we're not short handed.

Credit to Carolina because they took advantage and good teams do that but those two calls are flat out as game altering as I've ever seen

Pull the goalie with 5 mins left.
Cousins instead of Gregor.
To name a couple
We needed three goals against a strong defensive team, no issues with pulling the goalie when we did.

Gregor vs Cousins makes zero difference in that game, though I agree I'd go that way.

we're really gonna get bent over and f***ed by the refs and then shutout tn eh
... about sums it up! Kudos tho! So which Nostradamus quatrain do we find that one in? Accurate prediction, but I am not sure we can award points for prognostication given how shitty the Sens played tonight!

We had a 'bad' first period, not horrific but we lost the first period.

Everything after that I'm going to ignore because it was so tainted by the refereeing.
I thought after the first we were ok against a really strong team. We created some turnovers and got some quality chances, refs did everything they could to squash any momentum we could muster up.

We were doomed when the two threads got merged.

Should have stuck with the low effort thread. Taken the opportunity for low effort play off the board

i said that with like 3 mins left in the game so not really a prediction, more a statement of exasperated frustration tbh
