Sounds like that guy spent a little too much time in Afghanistan

Haha, yep- that sure was a thing over there. And more pervasive was "Man Love Thursdays" amongst our indigenous forces.

Although to be fair, there is so little testosterone in that minivan I'm not sure that anything that goes on in there could really be construed as "gay". 😉

I didn't follow this story at all, so maybe someone can explain it to me.

From what I gathered, a homosexual porn actor in New York had trained a squirrel to help promote his OnlyFans. Someone from out of state reported him, and the police showed up and eliminated the animal.

How did that end up as a rallying cry for the right?

so, won't get into the political side of it since I'm not super well versed on the "why" on that matter

but basically yeah. Guy adopts an infant squirrel after he sees its mother killed and failed attempts to get the property authorities to have them handle things. Raises it for a few months then tries to release into the wild, that goes... about as expected shy of it getting actually killed and finds the squirrel returned to his place so he takes it in for good. Sets up instagram account for said squirrel that gains a modestly large level of following. Years later online trolls/busybodies place complaints, unconfirmed reports of connections to said actor by person(s) reporting. State raids guys house and ends up offing said animals

a five hour raid by the state to catch and kill a pet.... don't know if there is much that can top it in terms of excessive government overreach. I dream of a government so small it wouldn't have the time or the resources for that.

Ok, I can buy that, though it’s odd that THIS was the “Police are out of control” trigger and not the hundreds of other police shootings against human beings.

Animals have a weird ability to do that us, I can listen a large number of dark/horror stories about bad staff happening to people, but it was the story I listened to about them hanging the circus elephant that really pissed me off.

I think it's largely because animals are seen as innocent victims, even in the event of attacks the animal is usually either defending itself, someone, or acting on instinct...it's not being malicious. Humans on the other hand have ulterior motives, act maliciously, intentionally provoke, etc. I would love for police shootings to never happen, and for everyone to go home at the end of the day. But I've seen so many instances of people just intentionally pushing and pushing and pushing until they provoke a response that it makes it harder to feel as much sympathy for them...the ole F-around-find-out
