Guillaume le Bâtard again, I'm afraid.

Compliment
Borrowed from French compliment, itself a borrowing of Italian complimento, which in turn is a borrowing from Spanish cumplimiento, from cumplir (“to comply, complete, do what is proper”). Doublet of complement. Displaced Old English ġeswǣsnes.

Complaint
From Middle English compleynte, from Anglo-Norman compleint, from Old French compleindre, eventually from Latin planctus (whence plaint).

So, those words compliantly complement each other.

I swear to god I heard this sentence on the radio the other day:

“That was the White Stripes on your classic rock station 106.1 WRDU” and I just about shriveled up like I’d drank from the wrong holy grail
My local grocery store plays the jam of my youth in their audio system. I sing along with Dj Bobo outwardly merry but inside I hurt like Johnny Cash.
