Dude just admit he embellished it and wasn't as bad as he made it look to be....If you ever played sports you know this happens and I'm pretty sure most of the guys on the ice knew he acted it up quite a bit to draw the call....
Yep for those that have played, all agreed the knee isn’t supposed to bend like that.

More garbage word salad for the 100th time. At this point, I hope the Devils dive to this extent Carolina does in a playoff series v Carolina and win a series off of it. He could've easily been hurt in both situations but the theatrics he goes through is the issue. You're a blind Canes homer at this point so it's pointless to continue. Also I'm willing to bet I've played hockey and other sports at a higher level than you before you do that dick measuring contest on a hockey board.

Lol this is your play now? Just claiming “word salad” for any post you don’t like that exceeds your arbitrary word limit? How old are you?

Also, as you are “willing to bet” that you’ve played hockey and other sports a higher level than the poster, you’re an active participant yourself in the maligned dick measuring contest.

You sure as hell don’t talk about sports injuries like a guy who’s ever dealt with one in his entire life.

Timo agrees

OMG. The smoking gun right there.

Penalized player thinks he didn’t do anything wrong.

Case closed. Glad we got to the bottom of this otherwise we would have had to wait for the episode on unsolved mysteries to find this out.

Maybe he works in the same practice as Dr. Recchi

Who knows if Necas doesn't get the rep in the future? Only time will tell or the next time something happens

Nobody else in the league is talking about this. Nobody in Carolina is talking about it either. For that matter, there are only like 2-3 Devils fans on one internet hockey board talking about it. I’m sure the rest of the fanbase has moved on over the past 3 days.

I promise you, refs don’t look at a replay of a guy’s leg bending backwards and then see him come back and skate his ass off the next shift, and think “there’s a guy who needs a rep as a diver”. Again you talk about this like someone who’s never met a professional referee before.

Timo's also the same guy who said he was at fault for getting blasted by Trouba and shook the guy's hand 30 mins after he almost tried to put him a wheelchair, but yeah your beloved Necas is always in the right

I no longer care about this. But obviously that’s what happened, whether you think it’s a penalty or not. The video is quite clear.

You do realize his intent or lack of intent really has nothing to do with it. Like if you high stick someone by accident it’s still a penalty. I’m sure he didn’t mean to knee Necas but the fact is that he did. That’s why it’s a penalty. You can still give Timo his good guy badge to sew onto his Boy Scout vest.

No one here thinks it was a malicious play but that also had nothing to do with the penalty being called. In fact had it been deemed malicious and with intent then there probably would have been at least a conversation about supplemental discipline. Sometimes things are just a penalty and that’s all.

If it had been deemed deliberate, it would have been a match penalty rather than a major. The choice of a major explicitly tells us that the refs didn’t think Meier intended to do it, much like the choice of a major also tells us that they didn’t think it was some small thing deserving of a minor.

It’s unfortunate that has to be explained.

I really hate the “you obviously never played sports” card, but this is one of several similar comments in this thread.

No, as a professional athlete, he’s not just going to sit in the locker room and miss time if he’s already walked off the pain and there’s no reason to think there was any ongoing damage to the joint or muscle. The entire purpose of getting checked is to determine the extent of injury… if the extent is “it hurt at first but I’m good now”, the player gets right back in the game. This is common from like… 5 years old when athletes are taught to distinguish between pain (fear) and actual injury.

So no, they’re not just going to make him sit in the locker room and miss time for no reason. Especially not if he’s actively pushing to get back on the ice ASAP.

Again, you can plainly see in both these incidents why he went down in pain. In the older clip you can see Amadio fall on his foot causing his ankle to twist sideways. In the recent hit, you can see his leg torquing completely sideways.

The fact that you think a player should pop up instantly from that sort of thing, or that they otherwise should miss an extended amount of time… again, the “you obviously never played a sport” card sucks but it’s the only explanation here. Anyone who’s played a contact sport has experienced injuries like these and run the gamut between actual injury and 2 minutes of pain and fear recovery before you jump back in to play.
That's a lot of words to say not much of anything. Necas milked it clear as day. People won't revoke your Hurricane fan card for admitting it.

Thanks for chiming in at the last minute to add nothing.
and thank god you're here to run to the defense and set the record straight.

Necas could have fought that check through the body, didn't in favor of avoiding it, and nearly had something bad happen but I can't fault Meier for what he was doing when it happened at all.

If your "oh shit" reflex is often to shift to avoidance, and Canes fans are in this thread saying he does this all the time, you can't be mad when you get caught halfway and act like the other guy shouldn't have set you up to be checked very legally.

Edit: is this a rebuttal? Or just an independent observation? I’m legit not sure whether there’s an argument happening in this post.

Sometimes bad things happen and they aren’t a penalty. This is a clear case of that.
