BS. Necas entirely causes the contact. Meier didn’t stick the knee out or make any changes. Necas is well within his right to try and get out of the way but in doing so in the way he did caused the contact. Not a thing Meier can doThis was a pretty textbook kneeing call regardless of what you feel about intent. I’m a Canes fan and I don’t think he was trying maim Necas. Meier did have his knee in a bad spot, it looks bad to me in that light. It’s easy to think he led with his knee even if he lunged with his upper body as well. The Devils I noticed before and after try very hard to play the body on Necas.
This right here. I'm not upset at Necas. I can't tell you if he was in pain or not, and we'll never know.It has nothing to do with being lucky or Necas being injured. It wasn’t even a penalty. He doesn’t stick his knee out or change his angle at all. Necas caused the knee contact.
FYI Meier is just coming back from a recent suspension. If they even thought he was rightfully kicked out he would be facing a suspension as a repeat offender. It was a stupid reactionary call by the refs to a player rolling around on the ice and going off like his season was over.
Don’t even care about the debate on whether Necas was faking or what because it’s irrelevant to the fact that it wasn’t a penalty by Meier.
And the call completely changed the game.
Always blame the driver who initiate contact in an accident without looking at others variables. You're doing it wrong. Always blame the victim for not skating properly.lol
Good because that guy is twat.
Yes.
Absolutely laughable comparison to Necas altering his entire body posture and trying to jump to the side. Karlsson braces and rotates slightly to not take the hit dead on - what he doesn’t do is extend his own legs, shift his upper body, and try to jump to his right.
To add on to this point, by no means is this poster victim blaming. It was just a series of unfortunate events which favored the Canes.BS. Necas entirely causes the contact. Ovechkin is literally skating straight at him dead on from the opposite blue line. What the hell are you talking about? He doesn’t see Ovechkin until the last second.
There’s a reason why most open ice hitters come from the side instead of straight on.
Meier made a split second and ultimately wrong decision and unsurprisingly you and other Devils fans are fixated on the fact that you got a penalty out of it as opposed to the fact that Meier’s poorly timed attempt at an open ice hit was an absolute failure and both he and Necas are lucky that he escaped further injury.
He took his shot and missed, end of story.
I dont think that Meier did anything wrong, he tried to hit shoulder to shoulder. Some bad accident.

Ok and all of this doesn't make it a penalty. Necas made a poor attempt at avoiding the hit as well.He doesn’t see Ovechkin until the last second.

True. This accident was at the fault of both parties. Necas could have just as easily hurt Meier in that play. Most penalties are bad accidents.

Essentially yes. If you're legit in as much pain Necas made it seem, then you better be getting it checked out.
45 degree angle?? LOL. That must be Ottawa math. They're both skating towards the center of the ice and Ovechkin is skating in a straight line the whole way, ending up square on Karlsson until he rotates his body. Karlsson doesn't see him until late because he's going skate to puck and trying to track it before gaining full control. Most penalties are bad accidents.
LOL, no wonder you have such a tough time with this hit considering you can’t even perceive reality with your own two eyes.
He’s clearly coming at him from about a 45 degree angle.
Karlsson is looking down ice and doesn’t see him.
Not sure why there’s this insistence on a hard and fast rule other than because so much drama was loaded into the event by what transpired after with the major and a goal against. Multiple times every season watching my own team, players on my team and the opposing team get hurt and plays stops and they are back for their next shift. If your knee bends like Necas’ did, clearly that’s going to cause pain in the moment, perhaps extreme.
Look bub, Carolina already gave you two top 4 rd to help fix your pk.The Canes literally scored the game winner on the 3 mins LMAO???
So you're going to completely dismiss Karlsson trajectory?View attachment 952960
If he was coming at him straight on, the two yellow lines would be the same line.
Thank you for helping me prove my point, it’s very sporting of you.
Karlsson tries to turn away but Ovechkin has the angle covered. No matter which way he turns it’s a body on body hit.
Meier missed and went leg on leg.
So you're going to completely dismiss Karlsson trajectory?
Man, that's becoming completely embarassing.
It was a penalty, right call was made.I swear some people just want to build their own alt reality just to prove a point.
Look at frame by frame where Karlsson starts relative to center ice line and where he ends up before the contact.Trajectory?
Look at where their skates are pointing.
It was a penalty, right call was made.
Buddy, are you okay? Karlsson is skating towards the center of the ice, not in a straight line...View attachment 952960

Ovechkin turns his body to lead with his shoulder. Are you for real??
