It is if they refuse to make meaningful changes, and the talk that management intends only to supplement Skinner rather than dump him should concern everyone. McDavid is ruining his own career staying in that situation.

I really don't get this.

The team was in the SCF two years in a row. They absolutely rolled through the west and ran into a wagon in the Florida Panthers.

People are acting as if this team is a bottom dweller and management has destroyed the organization.

There is a very good likelihood they are back in the finals next year, and if they get McDavid signed, numerous times over the next half decade.

No Hyman, Nuge was hurt, Brown was concussed, Ekholm was done, McDrai looking hurt again. The referees rendered Kane ineffective and let Florida get away with murder while watching us under a microscope. They weren't even trying to hide it anymore.

I'm not going to be angry at the players here. Not even Skinner and Nurse...we knew what we had with them. One guy is the worst playoff starter on a good team ever, who only receives so many chances because he gets hot and tricks us into thinking he's turned the corner, and the other guy is a habitual bumbler who is allergic to possession and given a ludicrous number of minutes each game to justify a horrifying contract that looks like the most destructive in the league.

Its 2025 and Skinner is our starting goalie. Thats reprehensible enough. But our forward lineup so lacking in depth it was the worst forward lineup we had in years.

This org is still run as if you can just scoop up player discards and stitch it all together as a team. Yet every year we get beat by teams that are put together, and with rosters that fit into a team identity. We don't have that.

They got beat by one team this year. They absolutely steamrolled through the West.

"worst forward depth we've had in years" is just blatantly inaccurate. Sitting in the conference finals all everyone could talk about is the depth of the Oilers because so many guys were contributing. They ran out of steam in the finals. Lost their top winger, their 2nd best winger broke his hand.

Try again next year.

And as I've mentioned, it does nothing for fans to complain about the past failures of this organization except to wallow in their own self-pity.

The team is one of the best in the league, and is likely a goaltender and a top 6 forward away from being the front runner to win the Stanley Cup.
