Player Discussion McDavid

Leaving would be chickenshit on his part. Getting his shot back to his 64 goal season levels and leaving $ on the table to try and ensure that we win is the right thing to do.

Right for who? He can get paid anywhere (though the Oilers can offer more thanks to the extra year). Barring a miracle comeback this year, he'll have been the bridesmaid twice and heading into a re-tool next season. I don't think he'll go because he seems very loyal to the team and city but I wouldn't begrudge him a change of scenery and another shot at winning.

Every cup contending team re-tools. Look at Florida. Lost OEL, Montour and Stolarz gained Marchand and Jones.

You're what we call a fan boy, not a fan of oilers, but mcdavid can do no wrong as long as he has good stats. I personally don't think mcdavid will leave nomatter what. For all that some fans and me have said about his lack of urgency and determination early on in games and at key times, I believe he is loyal to team and teammates and believes he can still win here. Oh and grass is not always greener on other sides. We still have an under 30 or around 30 main core and can retool and makes a few more runs at it. That is fact!!

Because they’re locked into this core. Unless some major shifts are made the defense is going to basically be the same next year along with the goaltending.

This team isn’t Florida. I don’t think they’re capable of making it back here next year.

People over react to losing.

Let’s blowup a team that’s been in back to back cup finals. Makes sense.

Job 1 - find a starting goalie.

The rest is pretty easy to sort out to be honest.

I didn't say blow it up, I just don't think they're going to make it back a third time.

Also the org is clearly committed to Skinner as the starting goalie. I don't trust them to find a starter lest we end up with another Jack Campbell.

One thing I want to point out ! Whoever started and keeps using that offensive name Mcjesus should never be allowed to post or make comments again. Even as a joke it is sick and offensive to many. I am sure McDavid hates that name too and is embarrassed by it. If you believe in God or not is not the point. Some do and it's offensive to use that name. It basically mocks Jesus if you believe in him. From the start when people started saying this i said to myself what a bunch of immature so and so and I thought how embarrassing for mcdavid to have stupid fans use that term. Not saying it jinxed him ever winning the cup but why even go there,? Anyone who disagrees with my opinion don't even respond because I already know your mentality. I had to get this off my chest because it's become so acceptable to joke about this.

Well guys let's stay Positive and see what happens tonight. The only question here is will McDavid will his team to victory or will he grip his stick and be neutralized like last year in game 7?

Great opportunity for McDavid to show what he is made of. Let's get it!

McDavid on ice last Game 7: 62% CF%, 71% SF%, 90% xGF%, 71% SCF%. "Neutralized?"

McDavid not good enough last game.

Do we see an improved effort from him and Leon in game 6? If not some questions need to be answered.

I don’t think effort is the issue.

McDavid was asked by Chris Johnston “how would it feel to be the best player in the world and not win a cup?”. Connor said that it “would be crippling”.

I think he’s in his head, overthinking things, he’s putting more pressure on himself to win than anybody else does. He’s playing tense and playing not to lose, and so is the rest of the team.

To be fair, he said if he thought about it that way it would be crippling, implying that he's not thinking that way. However, bringing it up at all makes me think he actually is thinking that way. He's implying that he is by implying that he's not.

I think we're all overthinking it to be honest lol. If a couple of his shots move an inch or two in the right direction last game he has a hat trick. We just need some puck luck tonight.

You are right and he's definitely playing tense, that is better wording. This is his moment and we get to see how he shows up for this game. Will he be tense and fumble pucks? Or will he rise and drag us to 7?

He's not playing bad by any means, but when you are the "best in the world" you need to produce and be more of a factor than he has been. Let's go OILERS!
