Wonder why McDavid didn't sign a Crosby (8700000/year) like contract with 9700000/year?

That would have us more competive and with more cap space to surround him with better talent....

I believe he actually turned down more money than what was offered for that reason.

McDavid at 12.5 is and was a steal. I'm sorry. No single player has been better and more deserving of every cent of his contract than McDavid.

Maybe look at the GM who gave Nurse a buyout-proof contract with a cap hit of $9.25 million...

I wish I recorded the game, because I noticed quite a few times that the Panthers are cheating. When McDavid is out there they are putting a lot of pressure on him and often with an extra man or two.

Hopefully Knoblauch is reviewing this and just telling the boys let's try not force the puck to McDavid as there has to be extra ice out there for everyone else.

Sooner or later you stop forcing the puck to McDavid then Florida will counter leaving McDavid with some more space to do his magic.

Could it be that playing less minutes and having the rest of his team providing depth scoring is keeping his totals down?

I always assumed that when there were others producing throughout the lineup and he didn't have to play 28 minutes a night that his production would dip. If that's the case I'm not bothered by it. I figured the only reason him and Drai were putting up obscene numbers is because they were the only two doing any sort of lifting and with a properly fleshed out roster those numbers wouldn't be achievable.

No it’s the opposite, all that running of McDrai together 25 minutes a night during the season has caught up to him. Can’t 100% fault coaching, when you have a cheat code like that, but some minutes management through the season could have gone a long way now.

No way, awful idea to hamstring future seasons like that. Nurse’s bonuses wipe out any advantage of the cap going up. Players with such millstone contracts move in bad salary swaps. So let’s start looking for underperforming guys making over $7M who are a little more buyout friendly (aka Lucic deal) who could get a boost playing with our new core.

Me too, my friend, but that contract is unmoveable and is buyout proof. Holland royally f***ed the oilers. It has also been a roadblock to bring Broberg up.

I wonder if Bowman can convince Treliving to take Nurse for Morgan Reilly. Reilly’s contract can be bought out. Nurse may be convinced to waive for his hometown- Treliving may be sold on the toughness and playoff experience

I'm starting to be less certain he'll stick around if they lose. Odds of him getting back here again are tiny and he's not getting any younger, I wouldn't begrudge him the change to chase a ring somewhere else at this point. He's given this team his best years and they gave him f*ck all for almost a decade.
