I wouldn't be surprised with a left shoulder issue.

In his post goal celebration, he doesn't lift his left arm. He barely could lift the cup. In the post game presser, he seemed to struggle to lift his arm to scratch his face.
Hoping I'm just paranoid, but something seems off.
I think you may be right. I wish this stupid tournament wasn’t a thing, but he also shot the puck pretty well so who knows.

Maybe the reason he was crabby in his post game was because of this? Or maybe we are just overthinking it. If he is injured I’m sure we will find out soon by some lack luster play.

Maybe just maybe all he cares about is the Stanley Cup and this was just “meh” for him

This time of year everyone has some injury it is just if it is manageable, you can play with it, and you are still better than your replacement in the team

If discussed in another thread my apologies, but on a scale of 1-10 (being most confident), what is your number that he re-signs with the Oilers? I'm hoping that because Draisaitl signed long term as well as that we have a good team he will stay. Toronto always gets mentioned as a suitor because he is from there.

100 confidence.

Toronto is a media creation. He's resigning. If he doesn't I will delete my account on here, that's how confident I am.

If I was Connor and there was any chance I was not going to sign here, my wife would not be opening a new restaurant in a historic building.
While I don’t disagree, what is being spent on that venture, while significant, is probably still lost in the rounding of his next contract wherever that might be. Let’s hope it’s here.

It isn't the money that would be the motivator (at least it wouldn't be if my wife and I were them).

You need to remember, she is motivated too by her own aspirations and endeavours. She isn't some child rearing stay at home hockey wife.

Since this restaurant is also to help showcase her furniture line and designs, this is as much about her brand and image as anything.

Conversely , people start business as absentee owners all the time or she could start it up somewhere else.

Again, I hope it is here, but I can’t be led to believe that there is something special that would hold her here to Edmonton, in order to make her mark, if her and 97 decided to pull stakes.

Ps - I fully understand that spouses (male or female) can be equally motivated in their career objectives. My spouse is a professional who has had a successful career for 30+ years, that she still practices, in her own LLP, which she started from scratch.

Cheers.

Well if he were to leave I don’t think it would be for Toronto

I think he extends, for how long we shall see

Bro is MIA.
People get defensive when we say he has regressed a bit, but even in last years playoffs if my memory serves me right he didn't look good at the start? How many 5 on 5 points did he get away from the PP and away from Drai?

Anyways he has clearly taken a step back and now we wonder if it's a career long thing or a 2 year blip. I'm starting to think this guy won't win a cup in Edmonton which is sad.

Looking like he might not get a 100 points this year as well. Which would be the first time since his shortened 19-20 season. He needs 27 points in the next 24 games, if he plays them all. Normally you would say it was a lock that he'd scored at a 1.13 PPG pace, but this year I don't know.

In his last 5 GP, he has 0 goals and 3 assists is -11! Jesus, that is pretty terrible. That -11 is something else to say the least. I normally don't put a lot of emphasis on plus/minus, but his advanced stats over the same time frame are really bad as well. He is 7th worst on the team in those 5 games with a terrible 34.77 xGF% at evens. (Savoie is the best over that same time period interestingly enough). McDavid hasn't just been had for him, he has been downright bad, period, for any player, during the last 5 games.
