Imagine McDavid came in like Crosby did. Crosby had about 495 PP's post lockout in his rookie year I think. I don't know if we even get 200 this year lol

It's also just amazing to imagine someone finally doing that, I know Gretzky did in under 700 games, but it's still passing Gretzky on a list.
At the end of the day though, the thing that is going to hang over his head is championships.

Not all the numbers are amazing either.
This season and last McD is 27th in goal scoring. For some reason after a career high in goals the previous season. Its inexplicable, and theres some cost to it. McD has become an assist king, and that started in playoffs but his goal scoring was down in playoffs too. Whats up with him not potting? A generational player is scoring at a Toffoli rate. For a long period of time.

I don't think anyone want to refuse an offer to play, especially with the Olympics around the corner. Not that McDavid would get bypassed for them of course, but a lot of others on the fringe would be in that boat.

My guess is that McDavid desperately wants to represent Canada and wear the Maple Leaf. It's one of the items lacking from his resume. I can't see him not taking part in this tournament.
Also, it may be his only opportunity to play with Crosby. Even though the Olympics are next year, you never know when an injury may keep one of those player out from that.
