After the playoffs, it was revealed that Connor has an abdominal injury (we suspected something like this). THEN Lauren posts this photo of Connor "surfing!"!

Not something you want to do with an abdominal injury!

Is she tiring the poor guy out?

I don't know about exact location or if it is literally next to McDavid's... but it was mentioned Drai was building a new home close to Connor

I remember that podcast from the summer, and I'm pretty sure they were referencing Drai buying a house next to Mcdavid in Ontario, where he still lives and trains in the offseason.

This pretty much kills any argument that McDavid would ever be "home" sick enough to go back to Toronto. He's already there in the off-seasons and so is Drai. By resigning with the Oilers he gets to have his cake and eat it too. A legit contender with a team built around him, and gets to stay close to his roots anyways.

When you can charter a private jet basically whenever you feel like it Toronto becomes a lot closer to Edmonton as well.

What is a giant pain in the ass for us is a simple 4-5 hour exercise for others. That's not to mention getting to sit in a private cabin with a leather recliner vs. being stuffed in 12D next to a fat person.

I suspect whoever wrote the article has poor reading comprehension.

The twitter post referencing Friedman's comments were that Drai bought a house near Mcdavid's offseason home, article goes on to speculate that Drai bought a house next to Mcdavid's Edmonton home in the offseason.

Hyman scored 54 goals last year. We're nearly at the halfway point this year and he has 13..
Nuge scored 67 points last year. He has 22 this year near the halfway point.

Care to elaborate?

And BTW, my post was more a joke poke at one particular poster who always thinks Draisaitl is getting constantly shafted. I realize it's a team game.
I sorry I usually try to avoid stats discussions. I have the necessary fixation to really sink my teeth into them.

Which is why I’ve always laid off any criticism of Money Bag Katz. His job as an owner is to provide those types of resources and keep the money train rolling, if we are spending to the Cap and have a huge allowance for management salaries, that’s a job well done in my books.

Also, could you imagine trying to convince McDrai to stay if we were playing out of the old Coliseum? Ooof.

McD lives in Laurier Heights here in Edmonton. I walked right by it s few times on summer hikes. Nice digs. Nice neighborhood.

What I like about it is it shows an interest in living in a classic Edmonton neighborhood. Not just the ritz cookie cutter newer posh neighborhoods but a nice old money neighborhood. Laurier Heights has always been nice area. Particularly as it descends towards Valley Zoo.

The Twitter thing is perhaps off. The article is clearly citing that Drai bought a home in Laurier heights this offseason, next to McD's house. The twitter, carelessly written, says that Drai build a house near McD's offseason home. Which to believe? I would say the article is correct and that its a classic example where people repeat information but getting it all wrong by miswording, Then people pick up on the miswording spread that around and the story is entirely different. This used to be a drinking game. Now its just what X looks like all the time.

And the said fat person has gas. Mentioning it from personal experience. Amazing that I am still on this earth after that.

Especially when they expose your comment as false.;):D

Friedman talked a lot about Drai buying a home near Mcdavid's offseason home, it was one of his talking points when Drai signed. Twitter post was accurate, article is wrong.

Easy check would be to listen to the 32 thoughts podcast, but their archives don't go back all that far on their official page and I'm too lazy to look for links from back then.

There is a linked video in the twitter thread from around the same time though and probably the actual comments Friedman made the twitter post(there are other blogs that picked it up on the same day).

1:55 - offseason home.

“Those guys are so close. Draisaitl bought a home not far from McDavid’s offseason home just so they could live and train together,” explained Friedman.

“They’re so tight, I just find it really hard to believe that [Draisaitl] wouldn’t commit to this without a really good understanding that McDavid was going to do it too,” continued Friedman.

The team has a better record. That is the focus not individual stats.

I don’t mind being laughed at btw.

Thanks. Wasn't sure which to believe and I never consume podcasts so wouldn't know of that info. Still, its kind of funny how completely wrong variants of the same information can be through careless retelling. This also in a microcosm saying so much about how todays informational sources can be so inaccurate.

This is the thing too with podcasts I just don't get. 1) I can read 5-10X faster than I listen to real time oration (speed reader). 2 Writing is MUCH more archived than something like podcasts. The whole purpose of writing, and especially since the Gutenberg printing press is to make information available as a record. So that it changed history, technology, Science, exploration etc. But now we learn to ignore writing and reading for other mediums. Kind of sad. Went on my usual sidebar there. But its because its just another facet of podcasts is they are not archived or annotated properly. So that it becomes missing information, which unintendedly spurred my thoughts on such information.

You guys know that McDoodles is reading this, right?
I love you McD. Save it for the playoffs. ;)

Twitter has it's issues, but it's generally pretty easy to dig a bit and find the sources for most things. It may give the sense that there is more disinformation out there, but I prefer a bit of telephone game misinformation that's easy to clarify and verify than monopolistic and corrupt entities controlling what you're allowed to hear like we had in the days before the internet.

As for the podcast stuff, the obvious reason why it's become to the dominant way to consume information in society - you can listen to it while doing other things; aka working out, typing away at a dull and soulless office job, driving, etc. It can be harder to look up information with regards to finding the archives, and then not only finding which show you need, but also the usually unmarked minutes that the information is contained in - but it's at least it's there.

When Scotty Bowman first deployed the 'Russian 5' they obliterated Calgary.

Calgary barely touched the puck all game and got smoked.

Bowman never really put them back together often knowing other teams would scout what they were doing and come up with strategies or copy it. He wanted to save that for the playoffs in more high stakes games.

There's a lot to like about not showing your hand. A lot of teams have copied what the Oilers PP had been doing while also learning how to defend against it.

I don't mind the line mixing.

Except I was talking about the linemates of McDavid. That was the point of the post, which apparently you didn't get, sorry.

And I wasn't laughing at you, BTW. Those are winking and smiling emojis.:D
