Crosby and Toews had more success probably made it easier, and Price being a goalie could have a disproportionate impact for his team the way McDavid can’t, Price almost single handedly made an okay team of skaters look like much more serious contenders. They did not look as good without him when he missed longer stretchesSidney Crosby does stull like this all the time.
I've never understood why McDavid doesn't get the Crosby/Price/Toews treatment from the Canadian media. Is it because Edmonton is not a large market?
I don’t disagree it wasn’t primarily McDavids guy, but still. He shouldn’t have been that tired, they weren’t skating that fast at all and he almost immediately was out of frame when he is plenty fast enough to catch up.There's already 2 other Oilers defenders back in the zone and he was flat footed on a blocked shot. If anything get mad at Barrie for launching it right into the shin pads of the guy directly in front of him.
Koskinen is absolutely a solid back up/1B on a good defensive minded team, he bails the team out quite a bit.I don’t disagree it wasn’t primarily McDavids guy, but still. everybody with a chance should be trying to get back there, especially when one of the two guys back, your defenseman is garbage at defense.
Usually power plays have an easier time not getting scored on despite often not having any of your teams best defensive players out is the fact you have more people, you swarm or overwhelm them.
someone please post the gif or replay from last night when an oiler passed up a shot, but at the same time an “extra” Knights back checker hauled ass back and got in the way. That difference in effort is why a team like the Knights can stay competitive even when struggling with injuries and or some struggling defensemen (at the defense part), and a “less elite” goalie in net. A goalie plenty of people acknowledged last night was given up on by the oilers.
I seriously have to wonder, Koskinen certainly isn’t a legit starter but with some confidence and a better team he could probably be a solid backup or low end 1b given some of his better displays earlier this season.
100 percent, he doesn't have the stamina or mental game to take on a full schedule and it shows when he is getting majority of the workloadKoskinen is absolutely a solid back up/1B on a good defensive minded team, he bails the team out quite a bit.
You mean the Oilers player who, unlike McDavid, was on the same side of the rink as Smith and STILL didn't catch him? There's another Oiler at the same level in the opposite circle when the puck was turned over. Why was he able to skate back and not McDavid? I think everyone knows 97 is the faster skater
Exactly. It's not a good look to coast in that situation but he had no chance. It's nice to draw a picture around both of them standing in the zone, but Karlsson clearly recognized break before McDavid did and by the time they're all racing there are two other Oilers in better position than McDavid.
He looks like a top 10 goalie some nights the next game he looks like AHL fodder.100 percent, he doesn't have the stamina or mental game to take on a full schedule and it shows when he is getting majority of the workload
Some nights calling him an AHL goalie is flattering TBH. When he is on he is unreal. But there is no happy medium, he is either hot or north pole coldHe looks like a top 10 goalie some nights the next game he looks like AHL fodder.
Yes, he won a few two week tournaments with a maple leaf on his chest. How about team success with the teams he played with all year long?

This is simply a bad example.
The more threads you get pumping your tires, the more threads you get countering the “god tier player you’d take over everyone” takes when you display obvious lack of effortI swear there is 2-3 oilers and or oilers players bashing threads after every game and its on going, everyone else and every other player continues to get a pass unless you are an oiler, he'll even former oilers are on praised because they are doing things on other teams now
He's ECHL quality overall. Some nights calling him an AHL goalie is flattering TBH. When he is on he is unreal. But there is no happy medium, he is either hot or north pole cold
