Tampa Bay has been so thoroughly discredited as a team that cannot do anything in the playoffs regardless of their regular season acumen that it would be in their best interest to blow their team up and start over with the best NHL player in the league: Connor McDavid.

The Edmonton Oilers have been so thoroughly discredited as a team that cannot get their shit together to make the playoffs. It would be in their best interest to acquire the stars from Tampa and give them a change of scenery and chance to bring a playoff team to Edmonton.

What would it take for this trade to happen?

Discuss.

Kucherov and Hedman. He's not worth that but it would take overpayment for him to be moved.

Just because the Jackets caught everybody's attention by making wild trades doesn't mean that's the way to go now. Particularly wild trades involving the best player in the NHL.

I said it before and I'll say it again. Not in the heat of the moment this time, so maybe people will think I'm serious now.

Point and Kucherov for NYR 2nd overall pick. I want Kakko.

Please if you cannot entertain this possibility see yourself out.

...if that's part of the criteria for participation, you won't be hearing from all that many Oilers fans.
Yeah it is. It’s for entertaining a trade between two teams. If that’s impossible for you or anyone else to do, see yourselves out and create a new thread.

Wouldn’t trade Kucherov straight up for Mcdavid. Let’s not act like there is a big difference. And Mcdavid isn’t exactly a known playoff performer either. He is also so overpaid.

This was talked about in another McDavid thread and Tampa fans did not want him . . Tampa fans would not like the cost

If Kucherov/Hedman can't lead Tampa anywhere on a loaded roster, where exactly are they taking the Oilers minus McDavid?

Not to mention from a sheer business POV it makes no sense. McDavid makes Edmonton more money than any combination of Tampa players.

Come on man . Better just to say he unavailable . No team is taking 4 cap dumps in a cap world . More likely fair value would be McD + Lucic for Hedman + Point + 2 1st and maybe a couple of prospects . You are not getting 4 elite player for McDavid with 4 cap dump attached . Even if you remove all the cap dumps no way the Lighting give up that much .

Not that any of this matters because the Oiler aren't trading him and if someone calls the better have a high enough offer to keep Edmonton on the phone

He was 20 in his first playoffs, his drop off in regular season to first playoff scoring is comparable to Gretzky and Crosby % wise in their first playoff runs.

There is a big difference. Forget being even 25 like Kucherov is, that's a different series even with current 22-year-old McDavid in place of Kucherov, no way would he go out like that.

McDavid is completely unavailable to anyone.

Point, Kucherov, Hedman, Gourde, Vasilievsky and your two best prospects and next two firsts for McDavid, Lucic, Sekera, Koskinen, Russell and a 6th round pick in 2000 and never.
