With 2 assists against the Stars Connor McDavid passed Joe Thorton in playoff points. McDavid now has 40+96=136 points in the playoffs so far. Only 3 players have put up more playoff points than that without winning the cup. Stars legend Joe Pavelski ended up with 74+69=143 points and no cup. Some guy named Brian Propp put up 64+84=148 points and no cup. And the late great Adam Oates put up 42+114=156 points without winning the cup.

Things are not looking good for McDavid right now as the hockey gods seems to favour the Stars in the 3rd round. What do you think, will Mcdavid surpass all these guys and end up number 1 on this list, or will he overcome the odds and win the cup this year?

Which is going to be McDavid's destiny, this:

Elliotte Fraudman recently said that Mitch Marner will go down as the greatest Toronto-born Leafs player ever which I'm disgusted by because everyone knows that McDavid will fulfill his lifelong dream of playing for the Leafs in summer 2026. Their Cup dynasty WILL begin immediately afterwards!

Blessed are we, Main Board posters, for another Mulletman Special is upon us in all its pedantic glory.

O! To have outlived yet another NHL star's twilight. My heart is heavy but my eyes hunger greedily for another obituary as decreed by the Man of the Mullet.

He's got this year and next to do it, IMHO. After that, he'll sign another mega-contract and the depth needed to win will evaporate.

McDavid is going to leave a team that is has a chance to go back to the finals for a team that can't even make it out of round one nine times out of ten?

Ok then.

With those two assists, he also passed Guy Lafleur, one of the poster boys for joining a stacked organization and being given all the credit in the world.

I'm a poster boy, you're a poster boy... We're all just poster boys here on HF ("poster boys" is gender-inclusive, it's a lifestyle and state of mind).

And Brian Propp was a very good player for a long time. One of the first white players in the league too.

The Oilers will have more depth once the cap is 104M even if McDavid takes 16M.
I mean, he's approaching 30, so they'll likely need it. I don't expect him to fall off a cliff any time soon, but he's not getting any faster or better, either. I think that this year (and last) are among the best chances he's going to have in his career.

Definitely... to use terms I commonly seen thrown around, McDavid has "peaked" by now. That's not to say he doesn't have several years of being in his "prime" left, however. He's as good as he'll ever get by this point. However, if he has 5 "prime" years left (I made up an arbitrary number for the sake of his example) before declining, that's not to say that one of those remaining seasons cannot be a statistical outlier for whatever reason.
