Finals? He has 9 points. 19 players have hit 10 or more, and record is 13.

He could still hit it, but he's not 4th yet

He has 10 points in 14 periods of SCF hockey.

Note of interest. He already has half the point totals of Crosby in the SCF. Crosby played 25 games.

Edit: Make that 11 points in 15 periods.

The only thing that could cap this off is if the Oilers complete the comeback and actually win this series.

Yeah I was just saying this, the Oilers coming back and winning this series would be absolutely legendary for McDavid's legacy. Between coming back from 3-0 and erasing Canada's 30 year cupless drought, I can't think of much else that would be a more career defining achievement that that.

If the Oilers come back from 3-0 and McDavid breaks the points record they should build that dude a statue before the next season starts, never mind waiting til after he retires.

We all but crowned Draisaitl as the clutchest playoff player of all time. He was three points up on McDavid on May 20th (after 12 games). Ever since, in 11 games and one period to go, McDavid has 19 points to Draisaitl's 6. What happened? Is Drai injured? We remember well how playing with one leg didn't slow him down one bit a couple years ago, didn't he even break some record in terms of points in a playoff series back then?

In light of this separation this stretch feels somewhat like a McDavid's breakout party even though he was already accomplished as hell.

But he also got to play behind Crosby and with Crosby on the PP. McDavid is not playing behind anyone and getting all the opposing attention.
That true
faced Stuart-Kronwall-Filppula instead of Lidstrom-Rafalski-Zetterberg,
Carle instead of Timonen

if McDavid create one of the biggest upset in sport history this finals, he will have the best run in a very long time and in the conversation for the best ever.

Through 3 rounds of 2009 crosby and malkin were neck and neck in pts despite crosby playing top line/harder matchups generally

Malkin played better in finals for sure

Mcdavid has outplayed Draisaitl by an absurd amount the last 11 playoff gsmes and just keeps on dominating whatever defenses are thrown his way

Malkin and any other player from the past or moving into the future from here on out will have to settle for best "not mcdavid" awards/seasons/stretches

Mcdavid has the best peak, prime, offensive, valuable, reg seasons & playoffs outside of 99, 66, 4 and maybe 9 ever.
yeah McDavid probably has the clear edge now, being at 42 with least one more game to play. Insane performances in back to back games.

The amount of individual records of Oilers these playoffs.. ridiculous.

Draisaitl 3rd fastest player to reach 100 points,
McDavid 4th fastest player to reach 100 points,
McDavid assist record, McDavid reaching 40 points, Bouchard breaking the assist-record.

And we are not done yet!

Draisaitl would probably have had a pretty good shot at 40 as well if healthy.
