Matthews, Marner, Drasaitl, Schiefele, Connor, Tavares, Nylander, Gaudreau, Lindholm, Tkachuck, literally ALL scored below their best seasons production.

Only McDavid saw an uptick, which he continued for an entire season afterwards.

But again… I’m sure it was just because every team was an “AHL” team

Im not subscribing to Matthews being in McDavid's tier in general let alone only for that season and obviously that goes for the rest of the North not having any elite players at the time outside of McDavid. Its a huge asterisk season, with guys not being or going 100%, the world stupid, and a Habs team that wouldve missed the playoffs normally, barely over .500, going to the Final only to be a lottery team the next season.

That seasons McDavid ESP/GP was by far the best of his career. He was just in peak shape then? You really believe that? It had nothing to do with playing against the some of the worst teams in the league from the season before? (Ott - 30th, MTL - 24th, WPG - 20th, VAN - 17th, TOR - 13th) and even TOR, we know was garbage D and G wise. Theyre like EDM outscoring their mistakes.
