The most marketable player is still in Pittsburgh.

It's certainly closer and a much better comparable. The biggest difference is that Dahlin is 6'3 and Garland is like 5'3. I liked the feistiness from Matthews.

Maybe you did, the league didn't.

Now if they let McDavid get away without 2 games when McDavid has been fined and suspended before and Matthews hadn't been it would make no sense.

I also think the Wild being irate about McDavid getting away with an elbow that concussed their player earlier in the week doesn't help McDavid's case.

Why is no one noticing Garland has 97’s arm pinned underneath him?
Why are we acting as if McDavid actually tried to get up out of that? When Bouchard had that at the point, he didn't move on Garland because he knew they benefitted. It was only once Bouchard's shot didn't result in anything that he got up within 2 seconds.

That wasn’t even close to the same. First of all the puck was there and he held him till it wasn’t. Garland was on him for an extra 10 seconds after the puck was gone. Oilers had two shot attempts while this was going on.
He absolutely did not let go right when the puck went away lol. Oilers had the puck in the NZ by the time they separated.

McDavid was on top of Garland and Garland had his arm locked for 7 seconds. Of which McDavid was content with lying on top of Garland because the puck moved to Bouchard open at the point and Garland's side of the ice was empty for a cross ice play to Draisaitl. This was 19s-12s that this entire thing happened for. McDavid started truly fighting to get out of that at like 14s after Bouchard blew the play. The egregious hold where it's literally only Garland instigating is right when McDavid got out and left Garland behind at like 11.2s when he tackled McDavid to the ice and interfered until Nuge's shot went wide at 7s.

Because they dont want to see it. It ruins their narrative.
See my above response.

Oilers never break out if they call Bouchard's hold behind the net at 1 minute. McDavid and Garland's first portion wasn't only on Garland - McDavid was definitely content to lie on him for a bit because it opened up space for Bouchard. Then Garland had an egregious interference play from 11-7s that was the worst of all events that 100% should have been called. But hey, never there if the Bouchard one is called in the first place.

In this game McDavid has simulated interference to draw a penalty, blatantly jabbed Hronek in the face with no call, and now this.
If he escapes suspension here there should be an inquest. Absolutely brutal bias by the league because they don't want to suspend their most marketable player.

McDavid's stick hit Hronek in the sternum, not the face...

What about the Matthews one that got 2 games after Dahlin crosschecked him and interfered with him first?
Well, we know consistency isn't the DOPS's strong suit. Matthews' might have been looked at as more vicious as well. His was at an unprotected part of the head and neck area. McDavids was at the helmet. It is a small difference, but it could make a difference.

Considering it was looked at and there was not even a fine, tells me that the Wild being irate is irrelevant.

Yeah, they looked at it and gave McDavid the benefit of the doubt.

Two games later, he crosschecks a player on the head. He likely doesn't get the benefit of the doubt again.

well call that penalty on bouchard then. The refs lost control, the players handled it, two players will be rightfully suspended and the refs will escape any blame for letting it happen.

Its not a gotcha moment to say bouchard did something first, just call the damn penalities and get rid of the game management thing they do.

I'm guessing he doesn't get anything more than a fine.
That's my guess as well. Then someone will post how a small fine is no big deal to McDavid and is not much punishment. Then someone will ask why the fine isn't larger. Then someone will point out the league can't fine much money because of the agreement with the NHLPA.

It’s true though, call the original penalty on McDavid and the remainder of the sequence doesn’t happen. Can’t blame Garland for getting mad after being punched in the back of the head.
Mcdavid punched him because Garland is laying on Mcdavids left arm and won’t let go. Garland doesn’t hold him out of rage, he’s intentionally and surprisingly calmly holding Mcdavid all he can to keep him out of the play. I’m sure he wouldn’t been fine with getting called, the clock was running out. They collided and fell down with Mcdavid on top, Garland holds Mcdavids arm and won’t let him off so Mcdavid punches him in the head to get away. They stand up and Garland does it all over again.

Garland did what he had to do to get the win but he should’ve had multiple interference calls. Mcdavid has an over the top but not really surprising reaction. They’re letting Garland do whatever he wants.
