Mcdavid 5min Match Penalty: Cross check to the face of Garland (Will have a hearing)

That's a nasty crosscheck, but one of the dirtiest players in the league?? Please.

McDavid has to throw a lot more crosschecks to even pass Malkin and Benn as the dirtiest star player, let alone dirtiest in the league. Then there's Marchand level.

With the increasing incompetence of the refs and arbitrary nature of penalties, I guess it shouldn't be surprising more players keep taking matters into their own hands.
not even the dirties player on his own team (Draisaitl).

If “taking a legitimate penalty” was the standard for McDavid’s opposition, Edmonton would get ten PPs a night and there would be 100x the suspensions. Connor gets singled out because he’s a star for a Canadian team.
PP's possibly but suspensions? I have not seen/heard about dangerous hits on McDavid? Lots of hooking and holding but nothing suspension worthy.

Is the league ever going to actually call the rulebook ? Why are they so insistent on having dirtbags take cheap runs at superstars ? Only major league stupid enough to allow lesser players to literally target and attempt to injure the games stars, in some weird effort to hold on to this old time "tough physical hockey" narrative

Not upset at McDavids response, every time a guy like that gets headshotted or cross checked it's because of several dirty plays that went uncalled prior.

Hahahahahah Oilers gold here. Turn down 4 nations because he cross checked someone in the face which is allowed because he gets hooked and tripped and played hard sometimes. The amount of calls he draws that are borderline because of who he is cracks me up half the time. Thanks for the laugh

It’s cool, Ducks legend Ryan Strome can captain Team Canada at the Four Nations, that’s obviously what the fans deserve to see.

It's a bad play that deserves a suspension. 2 games seems reasonable to me.

The interesting question for me is what recourse does McDavid have for all the infractions he has to deal with on a regular basis. Obviously cross checking a guy in the face isn't an answer but obviously asking the refs to do their job hasn't worked either. I'm sure some will just say "fight through it" which is very lazy.

I know McDavid gets away with calls too but on the whole, it isn't even close. He takes way more than he gives.

don't think we can even call mcdavid sneaky dirty anymore. he's showing his true colors lately

can he escape a suspension for this one like he did with his elbow to the minny player's face the other night?

So does Kaprizov. If McDavid gets only two for this I hope to christ Kaprizov gets to crush someone's trachea next time someone is mean to him.

In person would be a minimum 6 game suspension though!
No, the type of hearing doesn't set a specific suspension length.

If the league is considering giving the player a suspension of 6 games or more, they have to offer him an in-person hearing. The player can decline that and still opt for a phone hearing.

So the only real difference is that a phone hearing comes with a maximum amount of games a player can be suspended for, while an in person hearing (regardless of whether the player accepted it) allows the whole range from no suspension to indefinite.

Hahahahahhahaha even better! Thanks for the laugh this afternoon. Pretty clear you think your team should be able to do whatever they want with no repercussions. Im
Not shocked at all which one you root for.

Along with his injury, the amount of lost games basically confirms he won't win the Art Ross. Up to Draisaitl to bring it home.

I'm intrigued to watch the McDavid villain arc

He doesn’t have to fight through nearly as much as people act like he does. Nothing more than the average player.

I wonder if we will start seeing the Oil Defence used in Canadian courts?

"So, you are brought here on the charge of a triple homicide"

"The guys in my beer league take liberties with me, and the refs dont call it!"

"You are free to go."

I have no issue with McDavid retaliating as long as his punishment is the same as any other player who intends to injure another player. I’m tired of one rule for regular players and another for superstars. Treat them equally as the play was clearly dangerous and could have ended in serious injury.

The only attempt to injure was on McDavid's part.

Regardless, both he and Myers get a deserved 2 games off and we move on.
