Mcdavid 5min Match Penalty: Cross check to the face of Garland (Suspended 3 games )

2 games for McDavid would be my guess. Well deserved. But I don't mind him putting a spotlight on the league's officiating and generating a bunch of bad PR for refs, I'm pretty tired of the inconsistent game management crap we've all been fed for far too long. A bit more rest for McDavid for the stretch run and no nonsense when they play Vancouver again Thursday.

The second it happened I turned to my girlfriend and said "f***, he's going to get 2 games now. The reffing was horrible for both sides during that game but nothing will change with the NHL.

You can’t let that type of play go. If there isn’t a suspension here there should be outrage.

Not helping that he’s had two dumbass childish reactions in the last couple of games. Not a good look.

Not sure what's taking so long. Give both players a few games and be done with it.
 
Super smart play by Garland.

Oilers had possession and was threathning. He took down Mcdavid and wouldnt let him go. Clock was ticking.

Even if a penalty was to be called, Oilers would have to be aware enough to give up the puck. If that happens, it allows the Canucks to regroup and get fresh bodies in to kill a few seconds.

Would have much rather seen Mcdavid drop the gloves and challenge Garland there than take a cheap shot suspension worthy penalty.

Garland has had 3 nhl fights and over 10 fights as a pro. He would have for sure dropped the gloves with Mcdavid.

A player i always compared Mcdavid to is Pavel Bure. Bure was so fast and ahead of his time that defenders used to always hook, hold, grab , take shots at him. Bure quickly learned that he had to show the league he wasnt just going to take it. Bure dished out some cheap shots in his days but eventually it just lead to him getting more space in the future.

43 pages is pretty funny given the most Oiler fans are saying we are fine with a suspension. Are there many posters on these 43 pages saying it shouldn't be suspended?

I still stand by Myers should get double what McD gets and those refs should be suspended for the same amount of games as both of them combined.

Oilers are fine.. give Connor a few days off to rest for playoffs. No problem. Will just make Drai's Hart case better when he is 2.0 ppg during the suspension.

I won't argue that it's smart, as long as the league does nothing about it. But if you start to see nothing players like Garland dry humping the stars at the end of the games like this consistently, well that's a lot less exciting than goals and the league will come down on it, hopefully. Maybe by extending regulation if a penalty occurs or some other deterrent, because it just isn't going to grow or improve the game to see that with any consistency.

Or they will be suspending more stars as they retaliate and it will eventually start to hurt when you're missing Mackinnon, Matthews or Mcdavid for stretches every season because they choose to protect rats.

No f***ing way do I want Davo fighting. There isn't some code of honour to abide by, get your lick in and don't break your hand fighting like he did in Jr's. Much rather he misses a couple games here and there to suspension, than weeks nursing an injury. I don't give a shit if that would earn him respect from opponent fans, and guarantee he doesn't either.

Isn't Meyers a repeat offender?? Mcdavid gets 2 Myers should get 4. But that works in the Canucks favor lol

Haha, I really am looking forward to the video the NHL will release. It will have to show the 10 odd seconds of Garland holding/interfering with McDavid in the lead up. Will be interesting to see if they even mention it.
