Unfortunately the pot-luck video game wizards on here disagree.

You’re only worth where you were drafted according to them. At some point you would think they would look at their own team and come to terms that most of their rosters aren’t first round picks.
A huge number of my team, the Canucks, are first round picks from various years. A lot of those former firsts are role players, and wouldn't be worth anywhere close to where they drafted. After...maybe...you're rookie season, draft pedigree counts for very little, and should here too, I agree.

Why isn't the Adam Fox trade used as a basis for this? Fox was loads better at his position and only got traded for a 2nd and a third, albeit there was a strong link to the rangers prior to the trade so that may have lowered his trade value a bit.

Fox was already involved in a prior trade and pretty much made it clear he wasn't a signing with either, or at least didn't give them indication that he would sign. A 3rd team would be very risky. The Rangers only paid to get him early with draft pick rather than waiting.

A 2nd for a guy who's production in college just got good in his senior year? If he's made it clear to the Wild he isn't signing you'd think the play is to just wait and sign him for free instead of paying a 2nd unless you think he can actually help your team in the playoffs now.

Could be a late bloomer. 6'4 physical, mobile, good hockey iq

It would be kind of a cool hockey life story to see McBain join his college buddy and teammate McLaughlin in Providence. I'm not sold on his potential but there could be something there. I would rather the Bruins wait and see if he hits the market.

Both are potential bottom six depth players. Neither has high value.
What do you think that a typical outcome is for a 2nd round pick, let alone a 2nd round pick that you don't have to wait 3-5 years for? Are you only interested in the next Bergeron?

Except Beecher is producing at an average at best bottom 6 rate in his 3rd/D3 season in the NCAA.

Bottom 6 production in a lesser league doesn’t bode well for him becoming a regular NHLer, even in a bottom 6 role (not saying he won’t be, but it’s not exactly a positive sign).

A 6'3" C who's overall game went to another level this year, was on the Olympic team, and will be ready to play right away rather than 3-4 years from now? No one cares where he was drafted four years ago, just like no one cares that Kaprizov was a 5th rounder. GM's almost always are looking for C's, let alone big C's with soft hands and a NHL pedigree.
Problem is youll lose him if you don't trade him. It affects the price.
