Being pandered to by a politician is not something I would describe as being "awesome."

I would have preferred if he wasn't even there.

Just so this politican knows. I was live streaming this event to my grade 3/4 students who were cheering the Kings on all playoffs and I decides to stream it as a reward today.

Well......I hope I don't hear any parent complaints. I'm sure I will since everyone gasped when the mayor said what he said

lol - I knew someone would be a wet blanket.

That was one of the funniest things I've ever seen  :yo:

Lol why? Just because he's a politician doesn't mean he can't join the party (no pun intended). The guy must've done something to tick you off in the past to say something like "I would've preferred if he wasn't even there." Self-entitlement at its best.

This is crap (not you, parents). I have heard the playground of third and 4th graders. They use every word in the book. Parents complain about stupid **** all the time, It's the reason the schools have so many rules and can't have fun anymore. Hell my kids can't even wear costumes on Halloween. It's pathetic.

The F-word was a regular in my vocabulary by the 2nd grade, let alone 3rd and 4th. The key was to not say it around adults because then you'd get in trouble. ;)

Oh, 3rd/4th grades are well aware of that word! Hence why they gasped.

It's a different world. We didn't say such vulgarities when I was that age but not a day goes by I don't use the word myself probably at least 10 times. Bottom line if anyone is offended by what the mayor said then they need to take a look in the mirror moreso than at the mayor.

One former newscaster referred to the remarks as "classless."

A perfect fit!

How appropriate! Or I guess in this situation, inappropriate ;) love it.

I've met Garcetti and he's awesome, actually a Kings fan too. Nice to see him having some fun with the guys there. I'm on board with the whole "Bob is next" idea. I'd like to see him walk to the podium, give us a "**** yes" and drop the mic like a boss.

The thing about the Mayor's comment showed he at least paid attention in 2012. The media doesn't seem to understand he was paying tribute to Quick. While it was a staged comment at least it he got it. That is why the players cheered. The rest of the media isnt even getting the 2012 connection. They just see a chance to rip the Mayor. It is fake outrage. If the really want to rip him nail him on how he runs the city. There is a lot to complain about in that area

This, my son since he was 8 (he is now 12) had an understanding, I know he knows the word..
I just tell him, don't say it around Mom, or Teachers..

He was there yesterday, and laughed really hard when that happened.. Because the word is taboo it makes it all that more funny.

I wouldn't say I'd rather he wasn't there but honestly, that was calculated and self serving and I could have done without it. As for the outrage over the work ****, well... America: **** yeah! Where nudity and "bad" words are more important than well, just about anything...

Honestly I was more impressed with the speech Beckerman gave. He seems down to earth, humble and that he really did his research on the team to be able to go into those details. He's a complete 180 from the glad-handing sleaze Leiweke comes off as.

Yeah, but he's been a part of the organization since 1997. He's not a used car salesmen like Lie-weekly. He's a genuine guy that loves this team as much as any of us.

I think it's time to tell you that everytime I read one of your posts, I heard this song in the background

Please tell me that I am not the only one who does

I'm of the mindset that the more you make it taboo, the more they'll want to say it. I'd personally tell them it's a bad word, they shouldn't say it, and it makes them sound very rough.

And it gets good rotation in my vocabulary.... :P

And for the record, it didn't bother me at all. Nor did Quick's.

That was awesome.

Like it or not, any time any group or team does anything of remote significance, the mayor or some other official will be there to speak. It's not just sports, its everything. Politicians love the limelight. They demand it. So want him there or not, he's going to be there. Given that, I'd rather have a politician go up and be a good sport and have fun with the situation and Quick than do the dry generic speech that bores everyone to tears. Want him there or not, he's there so be glad he made it entertaining.

As for concerns over the kids, I get it, but swears are everywhere on TV, not to mention the shows the are bleeping every second word. Kids aren't dumb, they will figure out pretty quick what the bleeps are all about. This isn't the 50's anymore, we live in a reality where swearing is commonplace and even encouraged (The Osbourne's anyone?) so if a child hasn't heard that word by age eight or nine, send him back to his Amish farm.

That explains alot of your posts.;)

Ok I just gotta say. The mayor of LA is named Garcetti? Really? I hope he somehow included this guy...
The_Wire_Carcetti.jpg

in his ads somehow

And yeah that was pretty cool. Hoping there some more good stuff like this from the celebrations in LA like last time with Quick's (drunk?) speech and Sutter's fist pump haha.
