Well, he prefers Thuresson and Granberg over Hörnqvist and Brodin so he obviously has a different way of thinking than most people. :D

Seems like that:) anyway i still want Peter Popovich to be the new coach for Tre Kronor:D

If that is a penalty in the rulebook, it needs to be changed.

If an opposing player drops his stick and you deliberately push it away so he can't retrieve it then I get it, it should be an unsportsmanlike penalty no quest.

But helping your teammate get it like Tracshler did, I mean there is no ****ing way that can be a penalty. If that honestly is a legit rule then what can you say....only the IIHF. :shakehead

Think Sanny Lindström said something about this is an old rule that have been used in the SHL? or i maybe missunderstood him!:help:

I see that Bulanov was one of the refs tonight, now things are starting to make some sense.

Bulanov is one of the all-time worst refs in international hockey.

The call on the play that led to the Swiss no-goal was also remarkably botched, Enroth clearly had possession of the puck.

I'm not sure Sanny is totally sure of what he's talking about. Sanny said there's a rule about picking up your stick. But the penalty says the Swiss player used a broken stick. The broken stick rule is very much in use and I'm not sure about picking up your stick from the ice even if it's still intact. I didn't see the situation that lead to the penalty though so I'm not sure wich one is right, wether the stick was broken or not.

I didn't see the scene in question, but if he pushed the stick to a teammate then this is indeed a penalty according to the rulebook. The same thing happened in the DEL-finals. I think the rule was changed prior to this season. You are not allowed to move a stick on the ice in any capacity. If you want to hand a lost stick back to your teammate, you have to pick it up with your hand and give it to him.

Stupid rule tbh... and atleast verry laughable since they dident took out OEL for a crosscheck to the head 20-30 sec earlier.

nop the ref could have let that one go tbh... the ref ruined this game.

Well, missing one infraction isn't really a good reason to ignore another one. The rule may be stupid in some cases, but it's not the ref's job to decide which rules to follow. You can blame a ref for not making an obvious call just prior to that, but not for following the rules in the scene in question.

A player whose stick is broken is forbidden to receive a stick thrown
onto the ice from either the players’ bench or from a spectator, but
he may receive a stick from a teammate on the ice at the time without
having to proceed to his players’ bench to obtain a new one. This
exchange, however, must be made hand-to-hand. A teammate who
throws, tosses, slides, or shoots a stick to him will be assessed a
minor penalty.

Hmm.. Largely deals with situation when stick is broken, unless we concentrate on the last sentence, which seems rather general.

True, but you have to check out the next paragraph (IIHF rule 120 III & IV):

Rule 120-iii includes situations where a skater has lost an intact stick and a teammate is trying to get it to him.

BTW, here the situation that led to the penalty: link

Sweden has now had two underwhelming efforts in a row. If they aren't just pacing themselves, they'll get demolished by the better teams down the line.

Klingberg is horrible.

And MÃ¥rts rejected Jonas friggin Brodin....

Same moron who said no to Hedman last Olympics...

I think you should respect the Swiss better. Losing a point to Switzerland isnt shameful by default.

Though Sweden does get sloppy on defense too much. We'll see were this leads to.

Very well put.

It is unfortunate ... Yet perfect according to the rules. Sh** happens.

Not so Classy booing and whistleing at the Athem.

if you where in the arena you would realize that the fans stopped booing and whisteling when the athem started (well ok probably some seconds later, because you couldn't hear the anthem first).
