Do you think the fact that Galchenyuk is playing for the US is sad? I mean, he grew up in Europe with his Belarusian parents. All his grandparents still live in Belarus. He was on the roster of the Belarusian Extraleague team when he was 15 y.o., but then went to the US and accepted their citizenship. He's as much imported player for the US as Lalande for Belarus. I'd gladly exchange them, but we have what we have.

He could have potentially played for Russia because he has his citizenship there and they were his youth team. But I hear you, it happens to a lot of the smaller countries where hockey parents will move their kids to "greener pastures" at a younger age and they never represent the countries their fathers represented. The IIHF's rules on gaining eligibility are somewhat ridiculous. Both FIBA and FIFA have grandfather clauses and the NHL's new World Cup is likely to have a grandfather clause as well.

The info for Galchenyuk is that he was born in the US. Not to mention the fact that he wasnothing more than an early prospect. Don't see what so similiar with taking a seasoned KHL goalkeeper and giving him a passport. Probably paying him a hefty sum to play for your NT as well.

Now I see that you're just a whiner and have no idea what you're talking about. How hefty was the sum? You in Slovenia know about Lalande more than anyone in Belarus or Canada.

I said probably. I can copy paste you the meaning of that word.

In any case, Lalande doesn't have anything to do with belarus. So like I said, sad that belarus can't have a homegrown netkeeper and have to rely on giving passports to imports. He might have been the 3rd string keeper last year but he's better and younger than those other two anyway. Seeing as how you have Goryachevskikh, Milchakov or Brikun I don't know why he needed to have a passport anyway.
