We so deserved that win :(

I'm getting real tired of Granqvist. Everytime Boork says something that's remotely off-script or questioning his hyperbole he diminished him with some cheeky comment and tries to go back on track real fast. If Granqvist would be running his mouth alone watching this tournament would be like watching a two hour commercial.

Surprised Canada won with that inexperienced roster. Haven't had a chance to watch the games. How dud they look?

Yeah i am wondering the same. Just came home right now and turned on the tv in time for the Overtime. I was expecting Sweden to win convincingly. This Canada team is basically Canada's "D" team at best.

No disrespect to the Canadian players- but looking at this roster i was not expecting much from Canada. Surprised Sweden lost, since they care about the tournament much more, and have a better roster than Canada. Glad Canada won though.

First Canada game that I have been able to see. Lots of mistakes and disjointed play from both sides. Canada was pretty lucky that Sweden didn't capitalize on some great chances. Both sides gave a very solid effort. It was also fun to see Ellis play internationally again. The legend of Ryan Ellis continues to grow.

Couldn't agree more. Granqvist is trash, it is painful to listen to him. Boork sucks too.

We already told you, this is not the place to discuss the worth of the WC. All this "A, B, C, D, ******* Z team" discussion won't lead anywhere, either.

Guess you haven't payed much attention to what team Sweden has iced. It's mainly SHL'ers = like if you'd iced a team filled with AHL'ers/eurobased players mainly.

Of course though there is some chemistry bonus for the Swedish side, some of them have played together during the year at the eurohockey tour.

Doesn't matter we've got what we got. Exactly which letterprefix they might have compared to other possible lineups, I really don't care about. But Sweden got a lot less active hockey players than Canada, and obviously hurt much more when people decline to play, I thought that was common knowledge.

Are you serious? :help: Swedens star players are Backlund and Nyqvist... Canada got an NHL based team with top "up and coming" talent while Sweden got SHL players. Our best SHL players are the ones who didnt even make it in NHL.

Canada got a good young team, MacKinnon is a superstar in the making. Kadri (finally) came up big for Toronto last season. Hodgeson is (the only) top 2 center in Buffalo. Meyers, Calder winner and ended the season very good in Buffalo. Bieksa has been part of Vancouvers core players the last 4 years etc.....

I actually think Sweden deserved to win this game, but the inches were on Canada's side when it mattered. Nilsson had a weird pinball goal deflect off his back when Sweden dictated the game, while Scrivens has a puck get deflected off his arm an inch outside the post. Not that the game was one sided by any means though, pretty fitting it was decided in OT.

If that pinball goal didn't happen so early followed by a plethora of penalties, I actually think the 2 goal lead would've been decisive if it was the end result of that period. Dick Axelsson, how he deked the whole team and then missed a wide open net, I cannot fathom. Story of the evening for the Swedish team: create an open net, then miss.

Swedish journalists calling Nilsson "King Kong".

Mackinnon is the only guy of value. Kadri was a disappointment this year. Hodsgon is decent but nothing special. Just because Sweden's SHL players are not NHL players, does not mean they are not good. Sweden got good talent from the SHL ranks. They are familiar with each other, have practiced and played together more throughout the year, and have already some chemistry together. Canada and the US just practice for several days and then the tournament begins. Anyways- hopefully Sweden and Canada can meet again in the Final.

It will be tough against Russia (now with Malkin joining the team), but i remember when the Czechs beat the Russians in the finals back in 2010, when Russia was the big favourite to 3-Peat. It would be neat to have the Olympic finalists meet again in this tournament. Hopefully Sweden and Canada can meet again for Gold!

MacKinnon is the only guy of value, LOL...Scheifele, Monahan, Huberdeau, Turris, etc all say hello. Not sure how you can be serious with a comment like this.

I meant the only all-star type player. Those guys are all good players you mentioned. I did not mean to diminish them. Hopefully they can keep up their good play the rest of the tournament.

D-team vs D-team, I expected a loss and got one. I can't really see how you think Sweden got a better team, perhaps the perception enhances the victory.

Good job Canada! Soon it will be on to the Quarter Finals which has been 'Death Valley' for our WHC teams over recent years. Hope we can keep going...our boys have been working hard. Let's keep it going.
