Malkin won't play vs. Latvia.

Jaks will be in the lineup for Latvia and I'm getting a certain vibe from our coaches that we're going to give more playing time to players who haven't played that much in the previous games in an attempt to not overwork our key players before the deciding matches vs. Belarus and Switzerland.

That's just a hunch at this point though. :)

Also, I really wouldn't be surprised if the 19-year-old Latvian goalie Punnenovs (NLA) would get the start tomorrow. He's been very solid in Switzerland this season and he had some brilliant starts with the national team in exhibition games, including a shutout vs. Russia.

So overall I'm hoping we can keep it close, but not really expecting a shot at getting any points, especially considering the circumstances.

There's a chance we might lose this one

If only very small chance.:) Latvia isn't looking as a team that could keep their goal safe and in the game who will score more, Russia have very strong advantage. I would be very surprised if Latvia takes any points from this game.

Latvia can't lose in this one:

1)They win outright (the preferred option).

2)Russia wins, with two ex Latvian national team members as coaches, and a top scorer (and the tournament's for that matter) who was born in Riga.

Not knowing who the LV coaches will put on the ice, I'll refrain from making a prediction, but Russia seems to be on a roll, so it will most definitely be tough, but hopefully they will keep it respectable. Who knows? perhaps Punnenovs will shut them out again ;)

Gudlevskis in the net. (It can't be 3 shaky game in a row, right? :) )

Kulda (small injury) and Lipsbergs scratched.

Kulda is a big loss. :(

We need Kulda vs. Belarus/Switzerland. I wouldn't mind resting DaugaviņÅ¡ either who's got a couple of minor injuries at this point as well.

Just lower your expectations and brace for a 5-6 goal loss. :) GD with Russia won't matter anyway.

Some one tell Latvia they cant just beat every body and win the Championship.. They aren't one of the big 6/7 :sarcasm:

This game is intense! Russia and Latvia has had the best fans during the World Championship! Must feel like a derby :handclap:
