Yeah, the NHL is an injury-free league
There's a big difference between a league where you make your livelihood and a tournament where you don't.

Also... where they happen to be paid and thus willing to risk injury.
I'm curious about this....are the players paid for the tournament? Or is there something for the winning the gold medal? I'm just asking....and is it different at olympics ?
No, they are not paid. They and their families (those who want to go) get an all expense paid spring vaca..
if they win, they get championship rings to celebrate the event.. and a 100 gift certificate to Swiss Chalet. yummy ribs. (just kidding of course about the Swiss Chalet gift certificate.)
If they were to win this year, they would all be flown to Calgary this summer where the Olympic team will be awarded their rings at Championship Gala dinner.
I always find it amusing that they get rings. It makes sense when a team wins a single trophy, but as the players all get medals I don't see the purpose of a ring. It is nice for the coaches and staff though.

If they play they are willing to risk injury. It's hockey.
What is your point? It makes sense to risk injury for your job. If the reward is significant enough. For the Canadian players, the reward at this tournament is relatively minimal.
