Congrats to Finland! A most deserving winner in regulation, OT, and in the Shootout.

Russia just can't overcome the weakness on defense, which may very well end up sending them home after the QF. On both Finnish goals, Russian defensemen skated away from the crease and left Finnish shooters all alone to exploit their absences - Yakovlev on the first goal and Mironov on the second. The fact that Yakovlev and Mironov are on the roster is evidence that this was not destined to be a successful year for Russia.

great game! more dislike and intensity than i was expecting.

in some ways this result is probably the best for both teams. if i recall correctly, finland usually has some difficulty with sweden and tretiak said earlier that he rather russia face canada than the czechs at home.
